2004 Maxima ST wireless remote programming issue

Hi guys,

I know there are many threads about this, but I cannot find one that matches my particular issue.

I have a 2004 ST Maxima, bought second hand. It came with only one key, and no remotes. Hence, I am trying to program a new remote to the car.

The issue I have it that when I go to initiate the programming mode by inserting and removing the key into the ignition six or more times after locking the doors, I never get a blink from the indicator lights. Instead, after the sixth key withdrawal, the car unlocks itself.

I've been researching this all morning and haven't got anywhere. It seems the car is registering what I am doing, but just unlocking itself instead of entering program mode. The locksmith cutting and programming a second key for me has no idea either.

This is a New Zealand new car, so I don't know if that changes anything, Nissan New Zealand have been no help whatsoever.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

I have the printed instructions I received when I ordered a backup remote for my 04' Elite.

I'll dig it out & type it here for you.

(I'm sorry to say I've had it foe nearly a month and still haven't programmed it)
