Hello, I posted this on my6thgen.com as well but haven't got any responses, hopefully someone here has some knowledge on the matter. I have an 04 with 208K, it has been well maintained over the years but over the weekend heard some rod knock after getting off the highway. Checked the oil and it was a quart low, added that quart. The next day the noise was even worse on start up and has been that way since. My question, can I use an 06 or 07 motor without any other additional wiring? Both the motors are local, the 06 has 68K and the 07 has 102K. The guy selling the 07 said he doesn't think it would work in an 04 because of some additional plugs.

 

07-08 motor will work just fine. use your original intake and wiring harness. swap out the oil pans. i've done it many times.
