airbag warning

code b1054, b1049 open air bag module on my 2007 maxima. Airbag warning light does not stay lit. No error codes till today when I got the above two codes to show using an autel al619. Codes will erase if vehicle is parked. If I drive the light comes back on. Reading in shop manual I might have figured out what is going on. As I said earlier in my first post, the light was not on when I first purchased the vehicle this June. Less than a week of ownership, my steering wheel locked up. I was freaking out and a friend got behind the wheel and jerked on the steering wheel like a banshi. Is it possible this somehow affected the spiral cable or airbag module or connections to cause the problems I am having? Any help is greatly appreciated. I am new at this, so I do not know where this goes when I submit it. Hopefully someone will see it and help. I can reset it manually also, but not stay on either.

Thanks, James Cos

airbag warning light flashes please help

Like I said earlier I have reset the airbag warning light manually and using an autel al619 scanner. Light resets but then comes back on almost immediately while driving. Is giving code b1049 and 1054, but they can easily be erased. Is resetting the light the same as erasing a previous incident from the computer. Do I have to go to Nissan and let them use their consult II to do this? I do not trust them. I am afraid they will take my money and I will still have the problem. I do not thing it is the spiral cable (clock spring) as all my steering controls work. I have disconnected the plugs and inspected the harness. Please, members I need your help.

which part supplier is best

I have searched a lot of online sites trying to find one that carries a spiral cable for a 2007 Nissan Maxima SE, can anyone recommend a fair parts house?

Thanks, James Cos

Help!

Can someone please help this troubled soul? I do not want to have to go to the Nissan Dealership and spend $100 for them to tell me that they do not know what the problem is. If I was convinced it was my spiral cable, I might replace it. However I am finding out that it is hard to find an airbag clock spring for the 2007 Maxima SE. Any help would be greatly appreciated. There has to be some of you out there that have had the same problem.

Thanks, James Cos
