Cam Sensor Bank2

You guys are probably going to kill me after so many threads have been posted on this and TSBs.

So I bought a 04 Maxima with 140k at the auction for $2200 about 2 weeks ago. When you start the car it idles like **** from time to time. My CEL is on for Cam sensor bank 2. I checked the TSBs and it said just replace one sensor if I'm only getting that code, so I did with a OEM one $133 at the dealer.. Put the new sensor in and car just cranks and cranks but won't start. Disconnected the sensor and it starts. And also takes a long time cranking to start. People are telling me to always replace the cam sensors in pairs.. And some are telling me leave bank 1 alone and change the crank sensor. But I'm only getting a Cam Bank 2 code😡. Also the 3 front cylinders seem to not be firing, could the cam sensor not working be the cause of this? The coil packs are working perfectly. My teacher at school also mentioned that the car could've jumped timing. Anyone experience this crazy stuff? Any help please lol.

Also forgot to mention. When you mat the throttle car seems to have NO POWER! I owned a 02 VQ Altima with 244k you would mat the throttle and it would just pick up speed like nothing. My maxima just feels like it has nothing

Strange, when my cam sensor went I replaced both and it worked fine. Did you pull any more codes?

^ That sounds like a bad cam sensor indeed, perhaps you got a faulty "new" one at the dealership? Or maybe it's the wrong part#?

Just throwing ideas out there..

Long cranks AFTER you disconnected the sensor, and no start with it connected, would tell me that sensor is no good.

Or, perhaps it's a good idea to replace both cam sensors at once, like people say. I'd maybe check the other sensor, magnets are usually shot on those at your mileage.

I don't want to spend another $130 and that not fix the problem. Replace the crank sensor at the same time?

The car unfortunately jumped timing, and the secondary timing chain is shot... So here goes nothing to replacing the timing chain on this car 😔😔.

Ughh man. Sorry to hear it dude, thats not good news.

Isn't this the exact reason why the class action was opened against Nissan for the 6th gens? Maybe you can get Nissan to help ( not likely I know but mayb worth a shot...
