navigation fried

The navigation system has fried on my 07 Maxima SL. I'm unable to access simple settings like changing the clock. I have to restart the car often because the entire electronics system decides to be non-responsive. I can push all the buttons I want on the dash and steering wheel and nothing happens.

Is it possible to replace the system and still be able to control the functions of the vehicle like AC, time, settings? My car is fully loaded and I can't use several of the functions. This is driving me crazy. The dealerships wants an absurd amount of money to replace the system with the exact one that doesn't work.

What should I do???

Ebay is your friend or a junk yard to be honest. You are gambling either way. What part exactly is bad? can't be the whole system. There are several different modules, a dvd player, screen, and controls that make up the system. Did they tell you what module it was? If so just get that part and replace it. Believe it or not, installation is fairly easy. You could do it yourself in a matter of minutes. More than likely it is your display control unit that went bad.
