Does anyone know of a DIY thread how to replace the alternator on the 05 Max?


If not, do you remove alte' from top or bottom? Any instructions will help to perform the surgery.

 

Out the top requires removal of the radiator.

Out the bottom requires removal of the AC compressor.

You gotta pick your poison.

Thanks from the input fellas. Too bad YouTube or the forum doesn't have any clear vids / write-ups but I got it done!!!


I did the surgery under 7 hours in my cold garage. I was in no rush, alternator was $155 from advance auto with core return, surgery is from the top removing the radiator, a few Newports and Guiness.


I will share my experience, from post to come - no pics was taken. After reading all the threads out there, I decided to go by the Maxima Service Manual (by removing the radiator).

I typed out my surgery step by step, took me about 30 minutes. The page timed me out and I lost the entire write-up!!!!!

 

Out the top. Remove radiator. Lot of disassembly but not hard just give yourself a lot of time.
