Help A Newbie Out ?!

Ok long story short, Last night I drove up to one of my friends dorms to hang out. When it was time for me to leave the car wouldn't start at all so we had to get campus security to give me a jump. After the car started I noticed my right HID headlight was out so i thought maybe thats the reason why my battery died.

But as I got on the interstate heading back home I noticed
1. There was a really Loud annoying high pitch whine coming from the car ONLY when I accelerated. As soon as i took my foot off the gas the noise would stop.

2. The car would only go into 5 or 6 gear in shift mode.
3. The car is driving in high RPS ... Ex: I Cruised home doing 60 at about 4000 - 5000 RPMS the whole time
4. When I put the car in Park or Neutral It doesn't display on the dash at all Only R , D , And Shift mode displays.
5. Shifting to Reverse or Drive there is a incredibly hard jerk.
6. This car is eating thru gas like there's no tomorrow now. Before it was a typical V6 gas mileage.... Now I swear to you it feels like I get 4 miles to the gallon.

Anyone know what could be the issue or help with getting it fixed?

The 2004-2006 Maxima has a major build defect in the transmission, and Nissan, (last I heard) was in a big class action lawsuit because of it. It seems they fail anywhere from 60k - 90k miles. Symptoms include jerking, high revs up to 4k-5k rpms and intermittent slamming into reverse gear so hard that it feels like you've been rear ended. I suggest you do a google search for Maxima transmission problems and see if there is any help via the lawsuit. Good luck.

Yeah, It just came on today. Where's a good place to take it to get the codes scanned?
