2005 Shift Solenoid

There may be a thread on this already, but I didn't see it. I have a 2005 maxima that has been getting difficult to shift. Basically it will not shift and I have to use the shift solenoid override to make it shift out of park. My break lights work and the fuse is OK. My hypothesis is that there is a problem with the shift solenoid that prevents the vehicle from shifting when the brake is not pressed. However, I am cautious in just trying to rip off the covers because I know there are several clips holding the console covers on and I do not want to break anything. Does anyone have a schematic or a video showing how to remove the shifter and the covers to access the solenoid??

Thanks

Not your shift lock solenoid. If your lever does not shift out of P, your brake lights work, and fuses are ok, then it's your shift lock control unit that has gone bad. It's located under the steering wheel on the left-hand side. The part number is: 28540-7Y00A.

My transmission slips out of gear completely but if I turn car off and restart it it will drive for a little bit but before it slipped out it used to get stuck in 5th gear
