Starter Issue. what to check ?

Starter Issue. what to check ?

Hi Experts ,
thanks for your time and suguestions
lately my 04 maxima hesitate to start. what should i check before i replace the starter

so the starters not turning at all? check the battery connections, battery cables, starter wiring, and starter cables. if all is good, you can remove the starter and hook it up to a booster pack to see if it turns

try starting it in neutral as well if its an automatic

it does start but it take atleast 15 seconds. it kick several times
what is a booster pack ? and how to use it ?
where is the starter located on 04 Maxima ?

so when it kicks it quits cranking? if it cranks for 15 seconds but wont start, thats not a starter problem. thats something else. if it cranks for a few seconds then the starter quits cranking, that can be multiple things. hold-in of the solenoid failing, poor connection, etc

booster pack is a battery jumper like jump cables kinda, you can remove the starter and hook up a battery pack to the solenoid to see if the starter gear is turning or not. the starter will be on the transmission near the bellhousing, i believe you can see it from up top

what is " hold-in of the solenoid failing" ?
poor connection ? is it a battery ?
what else can be check to fix this starter cranking issue ?
