Crankshaft position sensor

Can someone please tell me the location of the crankshaft position sensor on a 2008 nissan maxima se , 3.5 litre 5 speed engine, I have taken off a sensor on top of the transmission housing , underneath the air breather , but I think this may be the cam shaft sensor instead of the crankshaft sensor, please help, thank you,

It is located underneath the car, on the bottom of the engine connected to a wire with a 10mm screw holding it in. Disconnect the wire an remove the 10mm screw.

That's the input speed sensor you disconnected, the crankshaft sensor is located under the engine with a wire harness connected to it. It's held down with a 10mm bolt. You will have to jack the car up.

There is a metal cover covering sensor, that is also held by another 10mm screw, that's why a lot of people can't even see the sensor. And yes, crank sensor is located right between engine and transmission underneath. Be careful not to lose that odd shaped rubber sleeve. Sensor has a usual O-ring AND there is that rubber sleeve to protect from dust and dirt entering transmission case. Also if you see oil seepage around that area, you may have a leaking rear main. Just sayin'!
