Air intake system?

What're the differences in all the intake systems such as the short ram and the longer intake systems? Which one is better.. I've heard they help out with gas mileage so I'm looking for one that'll help with gas and maybe a little more power

I've tried several and have found the stock to not only perform better, but also aftermarket intakes causes our car to run alittle rough. Go with K & N replacement filter.

Try going to a parts store and buy the cheapest filter you can get. They flow more air then a standard filter does. It will do the same as a K&N filter with a lost less money.

I had a short ram for a couple years, but when I could not pass smog since I built it myself I got a CARB certified short ram from Injen. I could tell a slight difference in performance. It sits far away from engine heat and the colder air does make a difference.
I would go with Cold Air intake. And not short ram unless you properly do the heat shielding and have a large air duct leading to the filter from outside of the car.

I believe there are 4 types of intake system.

1. OEM- Well engineered by the manufacture.

2. OEM with aftermarket drop in filter- Buying a drop in filter and still using the OEM air box can help really help improve the air flow with minimal restriction.

3. Short ram- Less to no air restriction, but prone to heat soak.

4. Cold Air Intake- Less to no air restriction and won't cause any heat soak.

I would just get rid of the whole car to start with, the 6th gen was the worst maxima ever produced and I lived with its problems for 9 years.
