no fuel pump energy, security light on, no dome, no power to door locks no start
greetings to everyone,
i have a 2000 nissan maxima gle and just finished new paint job and reassembled. It sat with no battery for over a year and now when trying to start it it had no power to dome lights, no fuel pump energy at the pump, no power door locks and the security light is on steady when trying to start. I replaced the SECU with two different ones that i obtained from a junk yard for very cheap but still nothing. I tried cycling the switch three times and the door lock as well with the key. Nothing. Checked all fused and relays and replaced them. Any help someone can help is much appreciated.

If the security light is on steady when trying to start (as you say it is), NATS is preventing you from starting. Moreover, if you try too many times, it may lock you out.
You'll have to have your keys reprogrammed. There are quite a few threads on this subject. It's either a tow to the dealer or finding a capable locksmith that would come to your house.

It is the NATS unit in the steering column that goes bad 99.99999% of the time. The rest of the time it is the ECU going bad. The ECU is where the programming information is stored. No one has ever reported a key going bad that I can recall.

Nats in steering wheel
Many thanks is this a part i can swap from a junk yard with matching key if its present to have dealer put in and reprogram? If not, by chance do know bout the cost? Thank you so much for replying
So if i go to the junk yard, pull the nats, ecu and ignition switch with the key all to the same car i have with same features, it should start?

You can't swap the ECU without programming the key. Chances are the ECU didn't die while it sat.
Forget the dealer for a reprogram. If you want to have someone else do it call some local mobile locksmiths for prices. They'll come to you for less than the price of a tow. Also, If the reprogram doesn't work you don't need to pay for a tow home again.
I don't know your area but:
*My local Ni$$an stealership wants almost $200 to reprogram after an ECU swap.
*There's a mobile locksmith around the corner who will do it for $45 if it comes to him. More if he has to come to you but probably not much.
*A local tow is usually somewhere in the $50 range.

when you have another chip key on your key ring and try to start car the system gets confused it could create this issue

Check continuity within the SECU. Open it up and probe the prongs to ground.
If you get continuity from prongs to ground and transistor chips it's probably good.
I had to do this with my ECU when I thought it was bad and found out it was either the safety connect not connected right or just loose wires.
It could've been the pins that solder to PC board but the car started right up and still runs. You just have to check all the circuits even within the ECU/SECU.
