05 maxima power steering issues
05 maxima power steering issues
Hello all,
So I did the dreaded timing chain tensioner update on my 05 nissan maxima...let me first say I should have paid someone to do it. After finally getting the car back together i test drive it. Noticed after i hit the acceleration pretty good the steering became tight. We have jacked it up and removed the tired. Tapped it with a hammer and it seems to fix the issue until you put it all back together and once again hit the throttle. Belts are tight and not worn. Fluid is still full and circulating. Strange that the pump would work here and there. Always thought once a pump goes out it goes out. Also no whinning noises

Today I changed the power steering pump. Seemed to run fine. Drove it a few miles and hit the accelerator as if to pass someone and the steering tightened once again with a brand new pump. As i was pulling it back into the drive way with no power steering i hit a little bump and it freed the steering up. Very confused on what could be the issue. High pressure sensor? Not even sure where to go from here
