Extending o2 sensors

Extending o2 sensors
Hey,
I recently decided to drop some headers and a catback into my baby, which led to the issue of the o2 sensors not being long enough to fit into the new locations. I know that there are extensions on the market, or so I've heard, but I haven't been able to find any for my car (2004 Maxima SE).
As a result, I looked into extending the wires of the sensors by splicing them and soldering on 18 gauge wire to extend the sensors. As of 2 days ago, after having finished the job, the car remains in limp mode.
Has anybody experienced any similar issues, or can anyone offer advice on addressing this issue?
