I bought a 2006 Maxima SL yesterday with the auto trans. I did some research prior to buying, but guess I didn’t dig deep enough to really start researching the transmission as much as I should have. I am planning on taking a couple of trips in the car that will have some driving in the mountains and I am now worried about the transmission possibly starting to have issues. I haven’t noticed anything significant yet. The car has 110,000 miles and seems to have been taken well care of by the previous owners.
Any advice on what I need to do or not need to do will be appreciated.
I was reading about the fluid changes (multiple)and thought about doing this as a preventative, or does the board think this is something I should go ahead and do?
Any other advice will be appreciated. i.e. timing chains, motor mounts, etc.
Thanks for any Help !

Take care of the transmission and maintain it, but don't fall into the CVT fear mongering. My 2007 Maxima CVT done 230,000km/s (idk what that is in miles) and no issues at all. The amount of bad reviews I read... and I have not experienced at all.

Typical solid Nissan baby.

I have a 2006 SE 5speed AT. my brother bought it at about 110,000 miles. I bought it from him about 20k miles ago. during that time, it has been really trustworthy. It has had some repairs: spark plugs, shocks/struts, cv axles, battery, and a new catalytic converter(last week). As for maintenance, oil change with full synthetic mobil 1 oil, drain and fill the transmission fluid with Nissan oil, PVC valve, and occasional lucas oil injector cleaner after a fill up. As for fluid levels, I suggest checking engine oil, transmission oil, power steering fluid, etc. Also, I always use 91 octane chevron gasoline, even if it is expensive. My brother definitely didnt baby the car. I drive with a medium foot especially since the precat started messing up. We do not know the repairs/ maintenance prior to my brother's purchase.
