Newb here 2004 Nissan Maxima help plz
Im sorry to join and start asking questions. I recently bought an 04 Maxima had some issues. I fixed some I have 3 that I'm stuck on.
crank sensor bank 1 and 2
Ecm ground short code.
I love Maximas this is my first one, I do plan to buy another shortly for me when my wife's is done. However im not new to Nissan tho. I came from a 93 300zx tt.
I have put a new timing chains and sprockets with water pump as well.
any help is appreciated,

They don't have an IAC valve. Electronic throttle body so the computer controls the idle. As for the ecm ground short code, make sure all the grounds are clean and making a good connection. I had a bad one and blew the ecm fuse as well as all the coil packs. In particular, the one that goes from the upper harness to the timing cover and the ones on the cable that goes from the transmission to the body below the battery.
There are a number of other grounds as well, but IIRC, those are the ones that are relevant to the ecm in the engine bay. There are others for the headlights and cooling fans, but I don't think those would affect the ecm.
After you get the ecm ground issue sorted, you can determine if the cam sensors need replacing (they are on the same wiring harness and ground connection afaik). If they do, swap them out, and perform the idle learn procedure.

Well i got the starting issue fixed. I replacedthe cam sensors with new oem parts. The missfire still continues and i tried driving it, and wont go over 2k without bogging down and cutting off kind of like being starved of fuel. On to the next issue lol

Assuming your crank sensor is good (that's known to limit the rpm to around 2000), double check your grounds are free of rust and connected to bare metal. I keep bringing the grounds up because I had exactly those symptoms when I had problems with the grounds on my car after re-ringing the engine. You would have removed one when swapping the timing chain guides and water pump, but the ground on from the transmission to body is just as important as it's the only ground for the coils and ecu. Then, check that your coils are good; based on the work you did and your description, I suspect you'll find one more more that have gone bad. If you find a bad one, I would recommend getting some used ones from a junk yard or pick a part and a) verifying that fixes the problem and b) verifying the problem stays fixed after driving it for an hour or so. If they go bad again shortly after replacing them, it's an indication that a ground issue still exists somewhere.
