Camshaft position sensor replaced, now won’t start
Here’s what I’ve done, in order. 2008, 163k miles
1. Lost power at redlight, car shut down
2. TC slip light + check engine light come on
3. Ran codes and got the Camshaft Pos Sensor
4. Ordered both sensors from Amazon + installed
5. Started right up but got “clicking” sound from CD player, like it was trying to eject a stuck CD (no CD in player)
6. The next day was super hot (TX) and it would not start and then took longer to start.
7. Car sat for a couple days then would crank but not start. Eventually did start after a lot of cranking.
8. 2 days later it will not start.
9. Today, replaced the bank 1 sensor with a name brand (Duralast) from Auto Zone.
10. Now will crank but not come close to starting.
11. Now what??

I don’t have any codes now that I know of.The codes that were present earlier are gone. The CEL went off prior to changing the sensors as well. How can I check for codes with it not starting and no CEL?

First time was ordered from Amazon (never again). Yesterday I replaced bank 1 sensor with a Duralast from AutoZone. Is it possible the sensor on bank 2 is junk and preventing it from starting? Should I return the Duralast as well and order Hitachi for both?

If your other cam sensor is bad then you would have a code. Pull the code and post the actual code here.
If you have codes for both banks, then don't be cheap, return Duralast and buy both bank 1 and 2 Hitachi from Rock Auto. The savings are minimal.
If you only get the code for one bank, then of course buy and replace just that bank. But w/o knowing what code is there no one can diagnose this further.

The original code was for both banks. I'll look to see if I still have those codes written down and share here later.
I have both Hitachi sensors in my cart on RockAuto, and both sensors there were less than the bank 1 Duralast sensor from AutoZone.

Swapped both cam shaft sensors with Hitachi units from Rock Auto, fired right up. MPG seems to be a bit lower than before, though. Any reason the 2 could be related? (2 issues being cam shaft position sensor + lower MPG)

I don't see Hitachi listed when I looked up my car on Rock Auto. They have Denso. I'm using the fixd scanner and my code is P0024. Where is that particular sensor located on a 2011 Maxima?
