06 nissan maxima, need help with transmission issues
Hello i am new here, i own a automatic 06 nissan maxima and have had lot of tranny issues with it. Started with rough and delayed shifts with thunking noises. One day the car stopped driving, was in drive and revved but didn’t move, seemed to be completely dry of transmission fluid which had been changed pretty recent. Let the car cool down and the fluid is back, car moves again at a very limited speed until i’m guessing it gets hot enough for something to stop sending tranny fluid over because it would be dry again. I would drive for 5 minutes and go til it stops until i managed to get home. Tried to drive it to a transmission shop but i barely made it 7-10 minutes til the fluid stopped flowing and the dipstick would be dry until the car cooled down. Does anyone have any insight on if i’d have to replace my entire transmission, or what i can start with or if it’s even worth fixing. Thank you in advance.

When you changed the Transmission fluid, did you flush the old fluid ( around 10 qt) or you have simply drained it and pour the new fluid ( around 4.7 qt )? also have you tried to check the fluid level through the dipstick following correct procedure? and of course I believe you have pour the correct cvt fluid. if its not the nissan recommended CVT fluid you expect it to cause issue.
So it's a regular automatic. was there the issue before the flush? Sometimes A flush isn't recommended if the engine is old, the clutch components that wear out get mixed with the fluid and quite ironically this contaminated fluid is what get the toruqe transferred to the wheel. I wonder if that could be the issue. Generally speaking nissan is notorious for their transmission issue, for cars manufactured after 2003. I hope you find a solution soon.
