Exhaust Upgrade

I have an 07 maxima that is stock but want to upgrade the exhaust. I plan on adding the Flowmaster dBX and replace it where the resonator was and delete both mufflers. Didn't want something insanely loud and not too much drone. I'm not sure what size the exhaust is but if it was like 2.25 diameter would it be better to add 2.5 inch for more airflow? I'm guessing I would have to install a new pipe before the resonator to match the bigger pipe if I was to increase the diameter. I saw some videos that said don't go over 2.25 inch for v6 engines but I don't know much about exhausts. Was hoping someone could help me out thanks!

I actually just did that. I put a single Flowmaster 40series header-Back with cat delete and side piped it.

I also went with 2.5” exhaust pipe.
