2008 3.5 auto maxima, no crank.
2008 3.5 auto maxima, no crank.
Need help, not too familiar with these.
Father in law changed out blown motor, kept original trans and harnesses. Asked me to help him finish it up.
Battery new, stater good, etc. All dash lights come on fine, all indications appear like it should start, but wont crank. Fuel pump seems to run, etc. Turn to crank and nothing happens.
OBD throws 4 codes, all trans related:
p1777- step motor?
p0740- torque converter/clutch circuit
p0745- pressure control solenoid A
p0778- pressure control solenoid B
Father in law says he never pulled trans pan, but drained and filled trans while it was apart. (Trans had to come out with motor). He said torque converter may be empty though.
Would these inhibit starting? Only other possible is he doesn't have the key fob itself, only the physical key from inside the fob.
Is there another trans connector besides the round gray one under the battery tray?
Any ideas welcome please!

Is the ECU currently in the car the original one or is it the ECU from the donor engine car? Wait for someone else to chime in but I think you potentially need a scan tool to reprogram if it's your old ECU otherwise the security system will go weird with the used engine but I have no clue if that will cause a no crank or if it allows crank and just cuts fuel.
P1777 is either the stepper motor is faulty or it has poor connection/busted wires, that will need looking into but i'm not sure if that will cause a no crank either

Is the engine a 6th Gen motor? Or is it a 7th or 8th gen swap? But I'm not sure what your definition of "No Crank" really means! No crank means the starter motor doesn't even turn the motor over! Won't start means the motor turns over but won't start! So check for the basis 3 elements needed for an engine:
1. Fuel
2. Air/Compression
3. ignition
1. Fuel
2. Air/Compression
3. ignition

No crank. Engine won't even turn over with key. Acts like starting is inhibited. Not sure on what gen motor, father in law got it and put it in. Everything connected and bolted up as advertised, using original trans and wiring harness was never disconnected from ecu, just unplugged all engine connections and laid back on windshield.
Only oddity is the bellhousing seems slightly different, even though it bolted up. Crank sensor hole is only half there, he modified crank sensor to fit.
