Transmission Additives

I have a 2005 Max w/ 152K miles that experiencing occasional shudder in slow/stop go traffic; its usually below 30-40 mph buildup that I feel the shudder. When up to speed, is fine. Currently don't have any leaks that I can observe. Just wondering what the board's experience with using these additives to alleviate some of the symptoms

I’ve, personally, never been an advocate for the use of motor oil and/or transmission fluid additives. They can temporarily improve a symptom, but do nothing to address a cause.

In your case, I’d encourage you to change your fluid, drive the car for a couple of, maybe a few, hundred miles, then change the fluid again … do this at least twice … meaning: change —> drive —> change.

A couple years back my truck was doing the "rumble strip" vibration on the highway that torque converter clutch issues cause, I replaced the trans filter and fluid which didn't really help then I tried the red tube of instant shudder fixx the 2nd link you posted has, within a couple days of daily driving the vibration/shuddering stopped and 2 years/50,000km later it hasn't come back. I'm not a huge fan of additives but I didn't want to pull the trans and the stuff fixed it completely

I'll give the Instant Shudder fix a try....these things are relatively cheap and see what happens

I went ahead and added SeaFoam TransTune and been generally happy with the results within the first 100 miles or so. Been in stop/go traffic and the RPMs have not revved up when applying gas to pick up speed. So far so good, but we'll see if it lasts
