I have a similar problem with my 2007 maxima. After I shut off the car and close the door the alarm beeps, in fast succession, for 20 seconds. If I walk away from the car with my fob, the red light stays on draining the battery. Even if I leave the fob in the car, it will still do the same thing and it kills the battery. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Get your Nissan Anti Theft System (NATS) deleted from the ECU. Then with a pair of scissors cut the light off. Did and done!Originally Posted by akhan

Thank you for the reply-2002SEMT. I truly appreciate it! Should I take it to the Nissan dealer to delete the NATS or can a local auto shop do that?
What are you referring to when you state, Then with a pair of scissors cut the light off.
Sorry, I am not very technical. Again, thanks for your guidance!

UpRev in Austin specializes in that. You can ship your ECU to them if you're not in Texas. Dealers won't delete NATS; I already asked. If you're not technical, I would highly suggest you go to your local self-service junk yard and practice working on a Max. Your first lesson is to remove an ECU off of a junk Maxima. You don't have to buy it, just remove it and leave it on the floorboard of the junk car. To remove the red light, remove the trim on your dashboard. Again, practice on a junk Maxima. If you want to buy something to justify being in the junk yard, buy the red light for a couple bucks.Originally Posted by akhan
