2009 Nissan Maxima spy shots

Anyone seen this? Allegedly a leak of the sketch. It's pretty old, dates back to Dec 2007. Still, based on this, it certainly looks nice.

jc822 - Not to worry; the bump on the hood is a foam block used as part of the styling camouflage. The hood on the '08 Maxima we get to see next week will not look like the one on that spy photo.
Nissan has done a remarkable job of keeping the uncamoflaged final design out of sight. I know I am excited about next week.
Wonder how the mods will handle this? There will certainly be a new board for the 7th generation by the time the '09s are arriving at dealer lots. I suppose we will continue this thread until then. I expect a LOT of posts on the 7th gen once Nissan unveils it. This will be a very exciting period for Maxima fans.

There are teaser posters posted at Nissan Canada headquarters within the building, about 10mins from where I live. Apparently the front end is very Benz C-class like, and the workers there say its a big improvement over the current 6th gen. Personally I think anything is better than the 6th gen monstrosity, so I am hoping for only good things here. It would be nice if it was reduced in size and the weight went back to around 3200lbs, but I doubt that will happen. It will be getting a new 3.0L commonrail diesel from Renault however (as most of you know) for 2010...its going to be detuned however, as the current version makes over 400lb/ft of tq....all that tq through the front wheels would spell for disaster.
I was at an autoshow a while back and the Nissan rep stated they didn't know if AWD was going to be an option, as not to compete with the Infiniti line.
Also stated they are looking for a more aggressive look and car all together.
Anyone know anymore on this?

I predict more marketing garbage than actually being a 4DSC.
I'm still anxious to see what it will look like. I'll be at the show next week.

Ok, now I'm gettin' excited. I have faith in Nissan that if they're bringin the 4dsc sticker back they have somethin' under the hood to back it up.

I wonder if they'll offer two engine options like the 3rd gens did. And I really, really hope they at least offer AWD. I wonder if they'll stick the all new 7-speed automatic into this too, since the FX35, G37 sedan, and 370Z are getting it. Hmmm, it's highly likely.

I highly doubt the 7-auto; it would have to be RWD for that. Unless there's a new FWD 7-auto we don't know about. BUT, one thing I do notice is that the rear seats are cloth which MAY suggest a 6spd manual. If you guys notice if you build a Altima on Nissan's site with a 6spd manual the seats have to be cloth.

Hmm, that's a good question cuz it made me look closer at the rear quarter panel shot and I can see a big dip between the 2 rear headrests suggesting at least the elite package is back

I'm thinking VQ35 with 285-300hp and optional 6spd manual for that sticker to matter. Probably only a slight bump in torque; maybe 258lb/ft if we're lucky.

unless this car is a serious powerhouse to compensate for its size/weight (think 96 Impala SS) i dunno if id like it so much... The more i see these new overweight looking cars since the late 90s on, the more i like my 3rd gen
