Not to bash the camry but the SE model could really use a stiffer/tighter suspension, all the V6 power is great but it's not winning any sports car comparisons, hard to believe Toyota once made the Supra and Celica

uhhhhhh... I agree but, speaking from my experience, the exact same thing can (unfortunately) be said for the 6g Max. A 6g SE suspension is but a mere shadow of what prior gen SE's were.

There ARE a few elements, here and there, that are somewhat similar to the Max in all the cars shown BUT the Camry.... Not a single design element of the the Camry is even remotely reminiscent of the Max. I just can't see why there is any comparison to the Camry whatsoever.
Camry aside, what is most in common between the others is the dog-leg C pillar, which has been a BMW signature for decades and was cribbed by all, including Nissan.
BTW... they all are pretty decent looking (Camry least so, but not bad), so I wouldn't complain too much. Could have been much worse.

You are confusing two comparisons. Yes, the current Altima is indeed a fine vehicle, and compares very favorably with the 2008 Maxima when price is important, although I would not say it is a better car than the 2008 Maxima.
But the Altima does not measure up to the '09 Maxima, nor should it be expected to. The '09 Maxima has moved even further upscale, and is now very clearly separated from the Altima. The '09 Maxima now lists from around $30K to $39K MSRP and competes with such cars as the TL and G35, while the Altima costs from $17K to $30K and competes with cars like Accord and Camry.
I repeat: The '09 Maxima is firmly in the near-luxury class, and is no longer a competitor with the Altima. Buyers choosing between these two cars are really choosing between two different classes of vehicles.

It has grown on me as well! I love the new Maxima! For some reason when it was coming out i thought it was ugly...don't know, but now it does look realy nice!
Can't wait as well to see it with some other rims, some drop, and some nice kit on it!

I agree and do not find that too be a problem! The Max has some sheet metal lines that the others are missing which gives it more character, distinction and a sportier look. (IMO of course)

A couple friends of mine saw my car and said they thought it was a lexus or something more upscale. I was a hard core American Muscle/Corvette fan and that's all I owned...but this maxima brought me to Nissan. It's such a blend of sport and luxury especially with the Sport package.

I've seen about forty to fifty whites, mostly on the big Nissan lots near me, but several on the road. After much discussion back in June, this board seemed to think white looked much better on this car than it does on most cars. White is, after all, now the most purchased car color in the country. It just replaced silver, which had a very long run as most popular. If global warming gets much worse, white will get even more popular.
White (Winter Frost) is the only color I am looking at with the '09 (silver has been my favorite since I left blue in the mid-1960s), and a white '09 should be in my garage before Thanksgiving.
My wife was behind a Mystic Jade '09 on her way to exercise this morning. That is the color I have seen the least of at the dealers - less than half a dozen, and I have yet to see a Mystic Jade on the highway.

I have not seen any other 09 Maxima's on the road since I bought mine almost a month ago, but I guess that's attributted to me living in the middle of nowhere Missouri where everyone owns a big rig truck..... :-) Well actually I used to own a 2006 Quad Cab Dodge Ram 4X4 HEMI up until I returned from my last deployment and realized I did not need to spend $300+ a month on gas alone.........now I will spend half that and still get the same miles as I did in my old truck!!! I LOVE MY 09 NISSAN MAX!!!!
