First 09 built is in my garage

I have been lucky enough to enjoy some nissan love in my life. I got to drive the GTR a few months back, and now I have a brand new Maxima in my garage!!! I have the opportunity to drive some amazing, and not so amazing cars in my line of work, but I gotta say, the new maxima is pretty sweet. The power is there, interior is solid, the looks had to grow on me though. I must say that each time I look at the car I like it more. I wish this was a 6-speed, but I am stuck in the auto w/out paddle shifters... I've had my heart set on the g35s for a while, but this is close.

I'll post some quick pics soon.

Not too much more to show you tonight. I'll take some more pics tomorrow. Don't mind my messy garage, I know where all my tools are...

Nice... more than pics, I would like to know specifics about the driving experience and ride quality especially in comparison with a 6th gen Maxima. How is the speed pickup from a stop? How is the handling, especially at turns? How is the suspension?

I'm more like a middle-man. The Maxima I had was vin accurate - 0001. I had to hand off the Maxima to one of our drivers. It needed 400 more miles on it by Monday.

I'm sorry to let you guys down, no more silver Maxima. I do have these photos though.

I am sorry for the bad pics. A rough night plus zero artistic talent, and I end up with these...

Honestly, I've never driven a 6th gen. so it'll be hard for me to compare. The car feels great - exhaust tone is amazing, a little more subtle than a 350Z. The power seems to be endless, it shifts seamlessly and just keeps going. The interior is tight and quiet, my only knock against this car is the cluster. I'm not sure why, I just dont really care for it. I think Nissan has a winner with this car, I cant wait to see what they do to it.... Maybe a X???

Is it me or does the car seem to sit higher (on the 3 pic) than the other pictures we've seen on the web? I can damn near see the back of the seat cushions from this view. The other pictures, especially the silver max, show a lower profile. What's up with that?

I do appreciate the new photos... thanks very much.

Looking sweet. Loving this car more and more everytime I see it. If I didn't just buy my wife a 08 Jeep, I would be all over this. Also I love how the speedometer goes to 150 now. And yes looks like a red GTR.

It goes to 160 and it's done that since 2000....

Yeah, thats a GTR.

I like my suspension firm and the maxima was spot on. Minor body roll for a pretty big car, but it was a great ride. I'm not a big fan of the FWD, but the power is put down pretty well. The seat was very comfortable, with a ton of travel. There's got to be 8" of travel up and down. I'm a fan of this car - ride was tight, interior looked like if came out of a 50k car, and the power was great - the engine/exhaust sound was amazing. I think I might take a TL type-S out next week to see how the max stacks up. I know the Acura is a lot more techy, but I am going for fit and finish.

the bigger stock rims + lower profile tires has made the wheel gap worse than I have ever seen on a stock car. yikes.

the rest is nice though

the 5th gen's wheel gap is worse...hell, even the new miatas have more wheel gap than that. IMO they did a good job with the new maxima. It really seems like nissan's flagship now and they made it look pretty aggressive.

I call BS on the first ever 7th Gen. Where's the pic of that VIN plate? It's nice to have ONE OF the first but don't claim you have THE first

That part doesn't even bother me. The fact that he even HAD one in his garage is the important part. I wouldn't get all bent out of shape over whether it was exaggeration or truth. Just rejoice and bask in it's glory.

The 'first VIN' thing is sort of nebulous. There were '09 Maximas produced late last year for test purposes, but their VIN numbers were not in the Maxima range (800001 and up for each model year for the last several generations). Those early '09 Maxima test car VINs were in a range Nissan uses for test vehicles. The first official Maxima of the '09 asembly line regular production run will have VIN # 800001. It is possible that is the one being shown here. A photo of the VIN plate would tell us.

Armon - The photo showing the 'gap' between the top of the tires and the fenders is misleading. It was taken in a dark room, and the only light was the flash on the camera. The flash lit the car up from the bottom, and exaggerated the wheel 'gap'. We have had lots of side photos of the '09 scattered amongst the threads here, and the visually obvious wheel gap problem of the front wheels of the 6th gen is gone.

04BlackMaxx - The Maxima is a four door family sedan with very sporty styling and features, not a dragster. With gas around $4 a gallon (and rising), I would have no interest in a 350HP Maxima. 290 HP will give more than enough power to cruise at 140 MPH. As for RWD, Nissan makes them, and labels them 'Infiniti'. I drove RWD vehicles from 1949 until 1984, and never liked them. They are worthless in winter weather.

I feel Nissan really hit the 'sweet spot' in almost every category with this '09 Maxima. Of course a 6 speed manual would be the icing on the cake for some.

I like my 6th gen and only because people that see me driving it make a bigger deal out of it than me...... I almost traded it in for a Mazda 6s or something in a lower catagory. I'm 29 and I get old guys my Father age hating on me !!! I drove my girl friend to a Ford dealer to pick up her new ride and all the sales guys where looking out the window at the Maxima. When I drove off the lot they all looked to see it roll of the lot. So I did the Gangsta lean and felt good about it again. I think because of this site I got "MAXIMA" over kill and got tired of looking at it and the Nissan Emblem......

Anyway, Nice car and enjoy.
