.

Seems to be a major #1 bearing problem in the 7th gen, not sure how widespread it is but over 45% of the 40 people who filled out the poll on this forum have the issue

Just went over 222,222 on my 09. No oil burning noted yet. Haven't noticed any changes in the fluid level (I always check when my car is at the same pump at the gas station.)

Five years and 42K miles on my '09 and the oil level is still near the full mark each time I take it in for an oil change (about twice a year). So far I have had no problems with any sensor ar guage or indicator.

In fact, except for replacing one of the three internal intelligent key antennas (under warranty), I have had no problem in five very happy years with this car. It is so perfect that I was a little relieved when the 8th gen release was delayed, as I always buy a new Maxima whenever each new generation comes out, but I was already dreading letting this perfect baby go.

I glad someone has a trouble free Max. So far the driver side seat rails, the forward/reverse motor for the drivers seat and the steering wheel tilt motor have been replaced. The lumbar support has also failed and Nissan said it is not covered under the 7/100 gold preferred+ plan. I was at the dealer today because the telescopic motor for the steering wheel had failed and it is covered and will be replaced as soon as they get the motor. The power train has been perfect.

As far as the 8th generation Max, if it looks like the drawings posted on the web then I will have to bite the bullet again.

What reason did they give for not covering it ? Seems to me it should be covered and I seem to recall someone saying they had that replaced under the gold preferred

Gold Preferred Plans cover 1,990 components

Electrical: All electrical components, including wiring harness repairs.

Body and Interior: All body and Interior components except soft trim items.

The Gold Preferred Plan has coverage so extensive that only a
few items are not covered:
Maintenance services, tires, wheel balance and alignment, battery, spark
plugs and wires, fluids (unless required with covered repair), wiper
blades, A/C recharge (unless required with covered repair) and/or
conversion of the A/C system to operate on R134, lubricants and filters
(unless required with covered repair), disc brake rotors and drums, brake
pads, MacPherson strut inserts/shock absorbers, clutch friction disc
and pressure plate, throw out bearing, lenses and bulbs, sealed beams,
carpet and upholstery, trim, moldings, glass, bright metal, wheels, body
sheet metal, exhaust system, paint and rust, squeaks and rattles, water
leaks, wind noise, any component of an electrically-powered vehicle
(Except Nissan LEAF), any and all in-vehicle communications systems,
immobilizer key, remote keyless switch assembly, air bag sensors, and all
items not covered by the Nissan Limited Warranty or Emissions Warranty

They are calling it a soft trim item.
The brochure I downloaded states as well as what you posted above "All body and interior components with the exception of soft trim items"

I have a claim into Nissan and they are supposed to call me after 2pm tomorrow (10/29/13)to let me know what they decide. Don't have a lot of faith it will be covered.

That's BS, IMO soft trim is a non moving interior part like if our seat ripped or molding cracked

Do a search, I'm 99% sure I saw this was covered for someone else recently

What failed ? Was it the motor or possibly a hole so the air leaks out ? f it's the latter I could see it being soft trim, if the motor, no way

Good Luck

When I move the switch in either direction I hear a clicking sound like the pump has failed. I agree, doesn't sound soft to me.

Nissan must have something that explains exactly what is soft trim, I'd ask to see it.

Would you really spend $2100 to fix it ? I never even use it

I would pay the $50 deductible, but that is about all. I do use mine, I have some minor lower back problems.

I was just randomly checking to see if it was fully inflated, hit the button and got nothing but clicks.

45k miles on my 2010, no oil burning issues. Average 25 mpg with mixed driving, up to 28 when hyper miling.
