Maxima Hybrid?
#2
The only thing close to a hybrid is a diesel model coming in 2010, or so I've read. I'm interested in a hybrid as well and/or diesel. I am new to this group and a 3rd gen Max owner (244K plus miles). This site is immensely helpful (thanks guys) to me as I am now seeking to purchase another motor car. Is anyone else interested the highly anticipated diesel 2010 Max? Is Renault [If memory serves me well, I remeber the automobiles Renault used to sell on this side of the Atlantic...rubbish to say the least] reliable and will Nissan get it right the FIRST time for the U.S. market/EPA regulations? In light of fuel cost, I would be willing to wait, but is it even worth waiting for? Plus the price of diesel has already surpassed petrol. What to do? Any opinions?

I havent heard anything about a Hybrid Max either.....I have heard though that Infiniti is coming out with a hybrid in 2010-2012. This may be the gateway for a hybrid Maxima in the future....

The premium you pay for hybrids makes all the savings in fuel a wash for at least 5-7 years. By that point you start worrying about the battery which will set you back thousands again. I think going diesel is the better way. The cost is likely not to be that much more than gasoline, and even with the cost of diesel, the mileage makes that up very quickly.
