My first problem.

First issue I've discovered on my new car.

It's going to get a trip back to the dealership to check it out.

Front driver seat rocks back and forth about 1/2 inch. I KNOW that's not standard behavior!

Anyone else with an 09 see this?

I got the same problem with mine, it's always when I brake. But I'm a pretty big guy (6' 6'' @ 300 lbs) so I thought it was normal.
I'm gonna check this out with the dealership.

Brake or accelerate is when you notice it most. I've poked around and prodded with my flashlight and see nothing "loose".

Given the passenger seat is rock solid.....

At first, I thought it was the sliding thigh pad thing, but it's most definitely not it.

If it's normal, I could probably get used to it, but it doesn't feel normal. feels like something is loose somewhere in the seatback bracket maybe?

My front passenger seat vibrates side to side like crazy. I haven't noticed anything with the drivers seat, however.

I've noticed some movement with mine. Taking off however spritely from stop there's the slightest bit of movement- I too would call it a "rocking" sensation. I doubt mine moves as much as an 1/2". I notice it also under braking- at the last little application of the brakes, but moreso under abrupt acceleration.

My WRX or STi, I can't remember which, did the same thing but worse at some point. The bolts just needed to be tightened.

I told my wife about it and she went on trying to convince me it had something to do with me not being used to leather seats. It pisses me off to no end, when she tries to correct my sensory observations!

I better take it in. I'm sure the dealership will act like they don't notice it.

i haven't had that problem with my car but the problem that i am having is when i get a call though bluetooth and i end the call my the bluetooth thinks that its still connected to the call and the call timer is ( In Call 0:01 ). I've tried everything to cancel out of this and the only thing that seems to work is to shut the car off and turn it on again.

anyone else have this problem?

SOunds about par for the course with the quality of the construction of the seat. Ive had the driver seat motor AND the lumbar break twice, its no suprise that something like the seat not being secured properly on its rails is occuring. Yours sounds more like a possible safety issue though, I want the seat to stay firm to the floor when im driving.

Well, my previous one didn't have any issues with the drivers seat. I haven't had a chance to get back to the dealer yet. Busy week at work, maybe next week, but unsure....

Anyway, if anyone else with the "rocking chair effect" has had a chance to visit the dealer, have you found out anything?

Nissan knows about the seat problems!

I participated in factory sponsored survey of 09 Max owners. At the time I had not had a problem with the driver's seat (I do now), but my passenger seat vibrates like crazy. I raised the issued with the engineers. They glanced at each other, turned back to me and said they know about it and the factory is working on a fix. It was driving me so crazy I took it to the dealership anyway. After a couple of hours, the came back and told the same thing. I love the car, but am very dissapointed about this problem.

Same Problem here

My 09 Maxima front seat rocks back and forth the same way. It doesn't do it for my wife either. I'm 6' foot 220.

I have taken it to my local dealer and they have ordered a LF seat Track/Frame Assembly. I hope that is the problem. This apparently is not a random problem.

My new maxima also pulled to the right when I bought it. The front and rear toe adjustments were off. The dealer told me this happens sometimes when the cars are transported and the tires are fastened down. Whatever the reason, I'm alittle disappointed in the quality problems to start, but I am very picky.

Pulling would be a simple and understandable fix, but the seat issues?

Ok, she made a trip to the dealership today. I too have a LF seat Track/Frame Assembly on order.

My preferred dealership hadn't ever heard of the issue but "felt" exactly what I was talking about. At least they didn't think I was crazy.

Happens on my 06 M35 and my previous 05 Maxima SL as well. Seems to be a Nissan design issue IMHO.

I have this issue with my 6.5. It only seems to shift when making a right turn under certain conditions. It feels like maybe an 1/8 to 1/4 inch shift but when it happens is very noticeable.

I took it to the dealer and we couldn't recreate it. Still happens to this day but only 2-3 time per week. It's the damndest thing. Other than that and the horrible metal roof strips fading, no other issues after 24K.

I took my car in and they ordered me a new part as well.

I also noticed that my car's fuel filler door didn't ever secure. There was an adjustment that had to be made. Now it's working fine.

Today, I got in the car and noticed they screen was very dark. Even when I adjusted the brightness, it still stayed dark. When I pushed certain buttons it would blink brighter but revert back to the darkest screen- damn.

Same on Armada

Seems to be inherent in Nissan Products. Had an '05 Armada. Same issue with seat rocking. Dealer couldn't find problem. But I was always afraid of what might happen in an accident.

The more I play, poke and prod, I think it's less of a safety issue and more of an annoyance.

I got a JD Powers survey for the 09. I want to wait to see what happens thru the dealership before responding.

MaxMus is correct. Now that you've been made aware of a "common" issue, you'll be on the lookout for it and you'll notice immediately when it happens.

You were probably better off NOT looking in the thread!!!! ha

Question Question about climate control

Has anyone noticed a "cycling" effect with the climate control. On occassion the cool air coming out of the vents seems to loose its chill for a couple of seconds (noticeable change in air temp), then immediately, it starts blowing very cold again. It seems to do this in both auto and manual modes. I'm wondering is this is programmed or if I have a problem. Would appreciate any feedback (maybe a trip to the dealer is in order).

Seat Issue

I took my 09 Maxima in to get the LF Seat fixed. They took my entire seat apart and then realized they needed to order more parts to fix the rocking seat. They gave me a loaner and they have my Maxima.

My RF tire is also vibrating. I think they wheel is not balanced. They aligned the car last time. Anyone have the seat issue fixed??

i'm a moron. just re-read the owner's manual. "if the outside mirror control switch is in the neutral position, neither mirror will turn downward in Reverse." lol

I'm sorry. I misread the post. I thought you were saying the mirrors that fold in toward the car.

I didn't realize you meant the mirror angles down when you go in reverse.

My bad. ( I see you figured it out already) Cool.

yea i just tried it out. it works fine. if the internal mirror control is in the center position the out mirrors will not angle down in reverse. the switch must be either in the left or right position.

Nice catch. This will probably crop up again as more '09 drivers bring their problems here.

Both the Premium and Sport packages include the reverse/tilt-down feature.

My wife has had her 2009 a month now and no trouble with the seat. However 3 times while she was driving it and once when I drove it, came through an intersection and turned left, straightened out after the turn, and it feels like the power steering shuts off and the front wheels goes rather hard right. When you jerk it back to straighten it out it seems ok again. Surprising and alarming. Am taking it to the Dealer. Doubt they can find it as it's not a continuous thing, unless there are other complains like this. It has about 600 miles on it.

Anyone else hear or have this problem?
