Vibrations at all speeds. Knocking especially obvious when backing out onto the road from my driveway. Happens while turning now as well.

Question???? - Shouldn't the driverside door lock feature still allow the driver to operate all the windows? Mine only allows me to operate my window if I lock the rest out.

Have an appointment tomorrow but the dealership is no longer loaning cars, they say. So I guess I'm supposed to pay for two cars I'm not sure I want. Don't most dealers at least rent you a car if they can't loan you one.

I'm regretting the decision to ever purchase a Nissan.

marmstro - There have been several posters here who have had trouble with the right seat airbag on/off situation when the person riding there is only around 115 pounds or so. Are you around that weight?

'Vibrations at all speeds?' Do you mean the front passenger seat (several here have had the right front seat vibrate rather badly while driving down the road) or the whole car? I think there is a fix somewhere her on the board for the right front passenger seat vibration, but if the whole car vibrates, it could be any number of things. But your car should not have significant vibration. That tells us something is not right. Tires/wheels/alignment are often the culprit with vibration. A good dealer will work on this until it is fixed. Under warranty.

'Knocking?' Do you mean the engine or something under the car? If you are using 91 or 93 octane (and you absolutely should be using one of those), there should be no engine knock whatsoever. If you mean under the car, then the knocking tells us something is wrong. Depending on the type of sound, it could be any number of things. But of course there should be no such knocking in a new car. I would think this has to be a warranty fix.

On the 'driverside door lock' thing, do you mean the door lock or the window lock? I can lock or unlock all four doors (simultaneously) from the driver's seat, and I can open or close all four windows (individually) from the driver's seat. And opening or closing those windows has no connection to whether the doors are locked or unlocked. If you have the Premium package, you even have the 'auto-up-and-down' feature on each of the four windows. Maybe I'm not understanding your exact situation? Help us out here.

The 'no loaner' policy is not customer-friendly. My dealer does not automatically give out loaners, but certainly has a person take me home and pick me up if the service will require more than a few hours. He has loaned me a 2000 Altima on a few occasions. With a new near-luxury flagship such as this '09 Maxima, I would hope most good dealers would do the honorable thing and give a loaner when the customer loses use of the car for warranty work.

I am sorry you are having a tough experience with your new '09 Maxima. Most folks here on the '09 board have had no trouble of significance. If you post again on this thread, let us know whether you have the S, SV, SV + Sport or SV + Premium. These four versions have different option packages. Maybe someone here can help us with some of this.

Any resolution on the clunking? I also have this issue (only when the temp is about 80 or so). Dealer couldn't find anything wrong although he did hear the noise. It happens when going over speed bumps really bad, banging/knocking while turning, and going over dips in the road. I hate noises and I don't think there should be any noises in the front suspension. Any thoughts from anyone on this issue?

The 'rotational noise' or 'soft clunking' we have been discussing here is a one-time thing that happens around 17 MPH after the car has been parked a short while, then never happens again until the car has been parked again. It has no connection to speed bumps, turning, temperature or dips. Any clunking in those situations is almost surely a suspension problem of some sort, and the first place I would look is the front struts.

This rocking driver's seat is on my last dang nerve. I am taking it to the dealer next week, but I am not optimistic. Does anyone have an update on how their dealer solved this problem?

The seat rocking is a minor DIY recall. There's a service packet I believe. I'm 99% sure because I read the PDF. I can't, however, point the the specific link. Sorry. There's this bracket that's supposed to be supplied.

I am sure someone else has posted this but just in case some have missed it. Issued September 15, 2009.

NTB09-092 2009 NISSAN MAXIMA; DRIVER’S SEAT BOTTOM SHIFTS SLIGHTLY
The driver’s seat bottom very slightly “rocks” and/or “shifts” back and forth when accelerating, braking, or when making a turn,

ACTION:
Replace the driver seat frame (adjuster assembly) with a new one.

I think this is for the passenger seat vibration. My dealer installed this in my car just a couple of days ago. The seat still vibrates like mad but it's not side to side vibration like before. It got rid of most of the rattle/noise from the seat so I'm content with it for now.

By 'rocking', I assume you mean the driver's seat? The passenger seat problem is more 'vibration' than it is 'rocking.'

The best thing to do is to get an account with the nissanhelp site. It is free and you can download one TSB for recall each day. With a paid membership you have unlimited downloads. A very good site with lots of information.

NIssan posted a TSB for the 370Z http://www.the370z.com/370z-technica...at-corner.html

A very small group of 370z owners were having the same issue: http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...e-driving.html

The lower profile a tire is, the lower mileage it generally gets. Despite the omnipresent eternal deniers of reality, 30K on 40 profile tires on a 3600 pound car with 290 HP is not that bad. I certainly do not expect to get much more than 30K with my tires.

As to the price, although there are a few exceptions, good tires for this car will generally cost betweem $200 to $400 each.

I have 62,000 on the RSAs that came with my 09 (and still have 5/32s left) Will be replacing those at 4/32s. Not a big fan of the Goodyears but they do seem to be long lived.

Your success may also be as a result of your long commute, where you are not doing as many sharp turns or acellerations or as much braking per mile or as the average driver. Also, doing so much expressway driving, you are probably more likely to maintain proper inflation, balance, alignment, etc than some drivers who do mostly city or suburban driving.

Having said that, I find my RSAs are wearing better than the Pirellis of my 5th gen and the Contis I had on my 6th gen. I am pleased, because I heard some unflattering things from the drivers of 6th gens using RSAs.

I've seen that problem mentioned here dozens of times. Nissan does indeed have an annoying situation with the passenger air bag. A weight of around 115 pounds (much more in some cars, less in others) is required before the car assumes a person is sitting in the passenger seat, hence turns on the airbag. But each car seems to have the cutoff weight at slightly different points. Of course the basic problem is having NO airbag protection for a person who is guilty of not weighing 115 or whatever trigger point weight that particular car's sensor is looking for.

Agreed, add to that I've only engaged the "traction control" one time (after a brief rain where I purposely tried to gauge grip) and VDC was seen to flicker out of the corner of my eye while evading a deer. Although I've never been able to get the balance quite right with the RSAs (Slight but aggravating between 65 and 75.)

Ok, here is my first problem. I've searched this thread have not seen an answer to this. I have had my car 1 year already and the bluetooth has worked like a dream. So, here's the deal:

My phone (Blackberry Tour) connects with no problem, but for some reason when I try to answer my phone, whether on the steering wheel or on the screen, it doesn't answer. If I look at my phone, it says "transferring to handset". If I make a call, it connects for about 2 secs and then transfers to the handset. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for any help you can provide!

The '09 Maxima has a funny little noise just before or after the doors lock (around 17 MPH). Many folks have been bothered by this noise. But much discussion back when the 7th gen came out indicated that virtually all '09 Maximas make this little noise, which many drivers don't even notice.

With me, it always happens in the same place right after I have pulled away from the post office and turned down a side street and started to pick up speed while coasting. I was concerned until I found this was a common noise with this car.

We discused it here on the ORG for many months, and finally decided it might be something with the ABS system resetting. But it has never caused anyone to have a problem.

I have a 2011... It came from the factory with the Homelink system broken. It doesn't do anything when I press the buttons or try to set/reset the system. Anyone else have this issue?

I have a slight rattle when going over hard bumps. I have had this issue in both my '10 Max and my new '11 Max. I think it might be the moon roof cover. Anybody with a dual panel experience the rattle? I have a single panel so that might help us determine the rattling we are all getting.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but that's what searches turn up around here.

Apparently, the Nissan engineers have not fixed the rocking seat issue (Driver's side) as I have a new to me 2014 Maxima SV with 34k on it and the seat rocking is driving me crazy.

And it's not where the seat mounts to the floor. It feels like it's the center part of the seat, between the bolsters, etc...

Did anyone ever get a permanent fix from their dealer? I'm within the factory warranty and was thinking of trying to get it covered.
