Cabin Air Filter - Don't get at Advance Auto Parts RANT

I replaced my Cabin Air Filter yesterday. I originally special ordered an aftermarket one from Advance Auto Parts. It was a Fram Fresh Breeze #CF10140. I wanted one that would remove some of the smells that I get from in local farming community. Basically a filter that uses the benefits of baking soda and activated charcoal to absorb odors.

Example image:

Unfortunately it DID NOT fit. It appears that ALL of Advance Auto Part's numbers are incorrectly cross referenced to the Cabin Air Filters for the 2009+ Maxima. Even a normal (just filter only) cabin air filter that they had in the store was not the correct size. (It was much smaller)

After further investigation online, I also found that at the the Fram website http://www.fram.com/ it also incorrectly lists the CF10140 as fitting the 2009+ Maximas.

I eventually had to go to the dealer and get the OEM non-odor eliminating filter for $17 and some change.

To save anyone the time it takes the Nissan Parts Guy to do his cross referencing. The Nissan Part Number is 27277-JA00A

If anyone has successfully found an aftermarket Cabin Air Filter with additional odor prevention features that actually fits the 2009+ Maximas, please post the Brand/Model Number/Price/Place of Purchase here.

It seems that every time a completely new generation vehicle comes out, it takes parts suppliers a year or two (sometimes three) to get the replacement part numbers right. This breakdown is directly attributable to two factors: #1 - Laziness by all sides, and #2 - Total incompetance by all sides.

If it makes us feel better, this parts number breakdown began just about the time Henry Ford decided to add headlamps to his Model T. The parts manager missed the change because he had his head pressed against his old tube-type Silvertone radio trying to hear if Ty Cobb could steal second base against Pie Traynor. Parts numbers have been screwed up ever since.

And this certainly takes some of the fun out of owning a new generation car. Shame.

I think the proper part number should be # CF10550 for the Fram and the 7th Gen.

I cross referenced the Nissan 27277-JA00A and found that the 2007-2008 3.5L Altima uses the same Nissan Filter.

I will file away that new Fram Number and check it out the next time. It seems they are always happen to return a special order item when their database is screwed up and gives me the wrong item.

You are correct on the OEM Nissan filter also cross referencing with the Altimas. When I was picking my OEM replacement up, the parts guy had also mentioned that.

You dont need to take them off to tint them, just get something thin enough that can get in that little groove between the body and tailights, taking them off would actually make it harder to tint because it would be alot harder to cut the extra film.

Just ordered a set of Vossen VVS-085 black/machined with black lips.. 20x9's all around from MC Design Whips. They gave me a GREAT deal, far cheaper than anywhere else I could find online. I'll post pics once I get them. So far I HIGHLY recommend MCDesignWhips communication is fantastic and their prices are hard to beat. Stay posted...

Hmmm pre-cut, that would make it even easier to tint, but since you only want the red part tinted, you should just try to as accurate as possible tape the pre-cuts to the tailights, and with a marker try to mark the are you don't need (reverse tailights) then cut them with a knife or sumthing carefully. Its ok to do em on the car man, thats how everyone does them, jus go on youtube, there are plenty of videos on how to tint tailights,Here is a very good one, that is shows in detail http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4pjTCwQgnM
If you need any more help, jus tell me.

Im thinking of 22" staggered, 9.5 front and 10.5 rear. Would the 9.5 in the front be too much being that the Max is front wheel drive? Do anyone here has 22x9.5 on the front?

Im looking to put 22's on my 09 max. The only problem is that all these companies that guarantee a fit wont guarantee the 22's. I dont want to order a set of rims and tires and shipped jus for them not to fit n deal w a hassle if I had to send em back. I know plenty of ppl have them and was jus wonder what size rims (22x9, 22x10 etc.) and tires fit the best w/ out rubbing? Appreciate the help as always!

good luck kadaf. Wish i could help u out. Those rims r def tight though... N Annino those r hot rims too. I was thinkin about machined black ones but not too sure how they would look in person compared to the dolled up pics. Def lookin good. Thanks for the pics
