its not that bad of a difference... at some angles the headlights have a purple/bluish tint to them but if you look at them head on sometimes they just look like regular halogen head lights which is y i dont like the fogs... id rather have the 3000k fogs

they are not HID fog bulbs, they are standard halogen bulbs, I believe. The bulb size is H11 and I'm trying to find the right bulbs that will match the headhlights

SO has anyone figured out the right color combination to match the headlights? I have been looking at a bunch of different websites to try and match the color scheme and I think it may be the 6000K color temperature. What do you guys think?

oh and did you guys see this:

i think 5500k-6000k would be the best match, my foggies seem a little more white than my headlights at certain angles but straight on it looks like a great match...

I was in between the 6000K and the 7000K and after looking at my lights in the garage in pitch dark I realized that they were not as blue as I originally thought so I also went with the 6000K series and I can't wait for them to get here!!!! I will post pics as soon as I can!

I finally got the right 6000K H11 bulbs and I installed them this morning and I have to say that they are defintely not the right match for the stock headlights!!! They are not as bright or blue in color like the stock HID headlights look. So I am going to try one more set of lights and it will be the last attempt at making them match! I am looking at getting some luminics bulb in Hyper blue I will keep you posted.

I don't see a big problem with HID driving lights and Halogen fog lights. I don't recall seeing a car with HID driving and fog lights.

Mastermind1, I can see what you are saying, but when you look at the vehicle head on with the stock setup it seems as if something is wrong with the fog lights because they are not as pure of a color as the headlights. When it all boils down to it, it looks off to me as with most mods it is a personal opinion.

Good luck matching them. The stock HIDS are a Philips 4300K bulb, with an almost pure white color. The bluish tinge is from how the projectors/shield and lens diffract some of the light at the cut-off. So from the edge of the beam it looks blue. Adding bluish halogen fogs will never be a proper match as it depends on the angle that you look at the front of the car from.

Yes, some people add HID fogs, which can be a better match, but the reflector design of our fogs aren't the best candidate for such a conversion. You can also buy projector fogs that excel in both performance and looks, but is it really worth it? I would switch to a yellow bulb and deliberately make them look different (like fog lights?) instead of matched driving lights.

Couldn't have said it better... I am going to be getting yellow bulbs as soon as the weather gets better to swap out my factory fog bulbs....

i just purchased the 4700 piaa extremes. I should have them in about 2 to 3 weeks. I'll let you know how they look compared to the headlights. I had a clk55 01 and i installed some of these piaa 4700 and they were about a 90% match to the hid headlights. Choice I would be careful with luminics, they always seem to have a problem, either they heat up to much and make ur lens yellowish after a while or they are to big especially for the fog lights. Either way let us know how they look. They usually throw off a white/purplish color to it.

i just added yellow hid's to my 08 max fogz...looks pretty hot... jdm look... i originally has took out the factory fog bulbs and added some regular after market bulbs which lasted about 8-9 mnts but a lot of ppl was telling me that it looks 'aqua' more than white... after they blew abt 2 weeks ago i just got them rmvd and added yellow hids for the fogs.. ill get some pics up later. i wantd to get 4300k hids for the fogs but the fact that it wouldnt match the headlights perfectly turned me off so yellow jdm look will do 4 me

Wife has the camera so I'll take the pics 2morrow, but looking at them right now, seems that even at 4700 there is still a tint of blue in these piaa extremes and it looks very hard to get that whitish/yellowish/purple mix from the headlights. I'm thinking the closest thing to these are going to be the stock foglights for right now, or something a little more pure white without the tint of blue in it. Guess I'll put these in My truck foglights and see if I can find another pair of h11's that match a little better. Pics will be up as soon as I take them. But cross out the 4700k piaa extremes, they have a tint of blue more then white.

The best match is 4300k......thats what the headlamps are.
When lokking at them up close it may not look like a match but from a distance it's perfect. When you go higher in K's the further away the more color the fogs will have.

Ok here are some pictures I took 2nite, its kinda hard to take pics and a very low angle where the headlights get a little more whiter/purplish as it has to much glare but its the best I can do. Like i said the 4700 Piaa show a slight tint of blue in it that doesn't match the headlights but not noticeable at some angles, but I'm going to have to say that the 4000k piaa extreme whites will probably do the trick, those will be in at the end of the week.

I haven't exactly looked yet but how hard was it for any of you to change your Headlights and your Fogs?

Any tips/instructions would be helpful???

I read the Manual and it says that we should take our vehicles to the Dealer to do any changes to the HIDs.

Thanks in advance

Just thought Id let you guys know that I installed the Piaa 4000k extreme white plus and it is about a 90% match I dont think you can come any closer to these. Less Blue a little more white, with almost a tint of purple somewhere in there. I'm very happy with these and recommend them. Here are some more pics hard to take them at nite as you can't see the purple in the headlights HID's but you can see the whitish purplish look of the fogs.

Ok the bulbs can be purchased on ebay here is a link to the ones I purchased

4000k extreme white plus EBAY LINK

You will need a phillips and a flat head and your hands and eyes. It shouldn't take no more then 3-5mins to replace each foglight bulb. I will take some pics on tomorrow. Go underneath the front of your bumper and you will see a 2 screws underneath (which require phillips) and 2 plastic screw inserts which can be taken out using the flat part of the flathead to pop them out. Stick your hand through the space given to you and you will see the foglight , just turn it, pull it out carefully without letting the bulb get scratched, pop it out from the socket and put in the new foglight, turn it in where the foglight goes and put back the screws the same way you took them out. Do the same for the other side. There is no need to lift the car in order to do this, just lay a towel on the ground or just lay on your back and get your eyes under the bumper.
(WILL POST PICS SOON)

I installed the hids in the fogs (4300k), piece of cake, there is a bottom panel which comes down, just have to take out the 12-16 approx plastic screws and you have ez access. took me about an hour to install in 30 degree weather, I would imagine less time in better climate conditions.

Sorry guys, my car came factory equipped with hids in the headlights, didn't touch does..

3000K HIDs in the fogs are really nice yellow color.
6000K is too blue compared to the stock 4300K HIDS. The fogs will look too blue.

I had 6000k fogs are people were flashing me and stuff and police looking at my car, etc.... with 3000K, everything is fine. It's yellow, nobody has these, and its more exclusive.
