Just curious, since video playback still only works when the car is in park and the parking brake engaged, what's the usefulness of this?

I create a mod for it using a couple of relays and switch. Therefore, I am able to view the movie while the vehicle is in motion.

with a flip of a switch everything is back to factory setting. flip it On and i can watch movie thru the car screen.

Do you care to give us the schematic on your Bypass for this modification?

I use 2 relays combined with the led on/off switch at the autopart so that I can bypass the circuit while in motion. When turn the switch to ON position, the circuit will then in the by pass mode which I can watch the video while in motion. If the switch is in the off position, then it set back to the factory setting which the car need to be stationary to watch.

Below is the diagram of wiring. Depend on the system you have you will see in the diagram wires. you need to cut the speed sensor wire and the Ebrake wire. Use the relay to give the negative or ground feed to the ebrake wire at the back of the radio. As for the speed sensor wire, it just simple break the circuit or continuity from the feed of speed sensor when the switch is in ON position. That will trick the radio to think that the car is stationary in one place.

When it in Off position the relay will simply join the wire continuity from the ebrake feed to the ebrake reciever wire at the back of the radio. Same thing go for the speed sensor. It simply join the speed sensor feed wire to the speed sensor wire receiver at the back of the radio. That will put back the factory wiring.

hope that help....or I can make you the relay circuit for a small fee if you like....which will have the 2 relays, switch and instructions...

as i stated above, cut the speed sensor and the ebrake and connect to the 2 relay. i have to take the waterfall or the radio console off to access the wire in the back of the radio. without take the console off, i'm not sure how you gonna access the wires from the back of the radio?

This tool looks more like what i'm looking for, except without all the bells and whistles. I don't need inputs. I just want an interface that avoids cutting but bypasses the nav lockout. This unit doesnt even mention that. It says the video from its own input is able to be played while in motion. I wonder how much the factory male/female navigation harnesses cost or where to get them? I think i'd like to make my own harness using airwolf's plan but with harnesses in between. That way all the cutting is between the two harnesses and not the vehicle's actual system. Anyone know where to get these parts?
