A few days ago, I leased an Alpine Frost 2010 SV, premium, monitor. I'm still trying to figure out what devices you can successfully connect via the USB and control with the car's audio.

My generic MP3 player (a Trio V430 with the USB cord I use to hook it up to my computer) won't yet hook up through the USB on the Maxima. The screen on the MP3 player shows "USB", but the car audio gives me a series of beeps and says "Check Connected Device". I even went through it and cleared out anything that wasn't an MP3 file. Still no worky.

An 8GB flash drive with only MP3 files on it works through the USB jack just fine, but i it has any other type of file on it, the car won't read it.

Is there a list somewhere of which players will work with the Max's USB Connectivity?

I just got an official notification in the mail from Nissan. They are finally admitting there is an issue with the Nav package and the iPod Touch.

Nissan will upgrade the software to fix the bugs that many have reported in this and other threads on this website.

I wanted to share the good news with everyone.

With that could someone answer me a few questions?

1) Does the connector that comes with the Technology package allow for video throughput to the system with out having to connect the iPod through the AUX connectors.

2) Is there a way to turn off (through the software) cable charging to the device so that it's not constantly being charged by the car.

Also a comment to be made (as I couldn't find this anywhere either), the iPod 6G even though not listed in the manual does work with the system in the Nissan Maxima, so if you want a 160GB before they aren't around ... feel free to spend the cash!

Thanks in advance,
dealextreme has all kinds of ipod cables dirt cheap and in any config you want. i have the cable that doesnt charge and i have a cable that goes from ipod to usb also with the 3 rca's all at once so i never have to switch it around.i just leave them all pluged in.
also i have the 3inch ipod cable which is so there is no extra slack that is not needed in the console.
there is so many to choose from on dealexteme.com

Same issue the other day. 8 day old maxima. Plugged in my ipod touch and it didn't recognize it at all. Several other times it said please check the usb/memory message. It was odd. After turning off the car disconnecting the ipod etc and coming into the car the next day it was fine. I did notice there are zero issues if its fully charged...it seems to happen if the Ipod begins charging before the car connects..?

Another side topic, I left my ipod in the center compartment for a day as I was in a hotel. Came back the car was boiling (Outdoor parking). The Ipod was hot to the touch i guess it kept charging and going? Turned on the car...30 minutes into the ride my entire system crashed and rebooted on its own. I took out the ipod and let it cool..no problems after. Still why would a hot Ipod cause an entire reboot to the computer system?

Judge, I am having the same problem. I just purchase a 2010 SV a week ago and everyday I've tried something different to get my Android to play music either through BT or USB. Does anyone have the solution??

Like judge's problem everytime I connect my Samsung Galaxy Epic 2 into the USB the car just beeps a few times and tells me to "Check connected device"

I have about a 1000 songs on the phone and waiting to put more on there. I'd rather go this route then purchase an Apple product which I despise.

Help please!

Does any of your devices have bluetooth? If you can hook up your phone with the bluetooth in the car you can play music wireless through BLUETOOTH AUDIO .. I hope that helps, good luck

IPod mini-2012 Maxima

When I plug my Ipod Mini into USB (using Apple cable) I receive an error message-telling me to check Ipod connection. I do have the latest software version. It works in my 2009 Sonata without any problems. When I plug in an Ipod Touch it works in the Maxima. Any suggestions other than using (my son's) Ipod Touch? Car is equipped with Nav, Monitor packages

Are you using and authentic Apple cable or a third party cable?

I had the exact same problem. I was using a highly rated cable but it was NOT from Apple.

The problem went away when I used an Authenic Apple cable....

I have that same issue on occasion. I'm also using an Apple cable. I typically fix mine by turning the power to the stereo off (I can never remember if I need to unplug the iPod then turn the stereo off, or vice-versa, often times it takes doing it both ways since I usually do it the wrong way the first time). After turning the stereo back on and plugging the iPod back in, my error is gone.

Thanks. I tried it several ways and it doesn't work. I'm thinking of purchasing an IPod Nano 6th generation. Has anyone had experience with this generation? The car manual indicates that the 5th generation will work.
