Stillen or nismo intake systems?

Been looking at the Stillen cold air intake system. Also ran across nismo performance parts. The nissan performance stuff is new to me. I called nismo and they advised in the next couple of months it should be out. Opinions about Stillen vs nismo parts. I see stillen already has a kit. Should I wait for nismo, are there past kits any different from Stillen.

To be honest with you from people that i have talked to basically Stillen is like Nissans NISMO they are very good quality but there prices are very high. Stillen is just as good as NISMO and is slightly cheaper. If you go with the NISMO i believe that the dealership will give you some type of warranty on that product or something. But im not sure how that really works. Its really your choice both companies are great; just depends on if you wanna bend your wallet and or wait for NISMO to come out with something finally. They say next couple of months but that could turn into 6 months easily.

Thanks, I am thinking about pulling the trigger on the whole setup form Stillen. I just finished reading the install instructions, it looks straight forward.

Generally all CAI/WAIs produce roughly around the same HP/TQ which generally rests in the neighborhood of 7-11HP with about 5TQ but it varies with your set up, so if you have a full exhaust or headers/Y-pipe set with full catback then of course you'll see more HP/TQ.

Berk also makes a great intake for Nissan's as well but for me I'm only trying to keep my car as a totally Stillen set up. Yes, Stillen tends to be a bit more expensive but you get guaranteed quality and fitment is never really an issue with their parts for Nissans.

As far as the differences, it is pretty much as Kam said, with NISMO you usually get them cheaper than Stillen and Nissan honors warrantied NISMO parts installed by Nissan at their shop (Only).

Then again, you may have to wait until NISMO develops or releases parts specifically for the 09 Maxima but one of the great things about NISMO is that most of the parts that fit the Altima 3.5 and 6TH Gen Maxima also fits our 09 Maxima so you should find many items that you can bolt on directly and not have any fitment issues.

Good luck

Do you know of any parts that fit the Maxima from the 3.5 Altima or the 6th Gen. Max?

I should've specified the "parts" thing, I meant like performance/aftermarket items for the engine.

Our engine is still the same so the Intake Kits and even the Drop In Air Filter from K&N still fits our engine for the previous Gens.

More along the lines of the aftermarket performance goodies that I can think of that should bolt right up, I'm certain that the Headers/Y-pipe and a few others may even be the same as well.

I'll do more research on it but generally our engines are the same if for a few minor changes here and there.

Short ram intakes are no better than stock. lol

Why not wait until a TRUE CAI is released? Don't waste your money on a "Hotter" intake charge.

CAI

South Charlotte Nissan stated that a CAI would VOID my warranty even under the Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage. If the dealer cannot prove such a claim — or it proffers a questionable explanation — it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission administers the Magnuson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks Greg

yeah go with CAI, even tho this is a super old thread lol. the SRI in my testing was worse than stock in terms of power, temps, and mileage. sounds cool but that was about it

any dealership that tries to void warranty on aftermarket parts id get the owner involved, Magnuson-Mass Act is federal law

Thanks
My max only has 10k miles with an extend warranty and.
I would hate for then to void my whole warranty over a 300 part
It also has a maintenance package on it so the dealer sees the car a lot

they cant void your warranty for aftermarket parts. only if the part actually damages something. read up on the Magnuson Moss warranty act its helpful to know about

to the OP, this guy nails it right here. you'll see a loss in power due to heat. if you want a cool sound though go for it

Well that's a buzzkill. I was down to the K&N Typhoon and the R2C. Looks like I'm gonna have to look elsewhere for some boost. I like the idea of the custom CAI but didn't want to go through the hassle of relocating the battery and all that jazz.
