Auto Headlights sensitivity
Auto Headlights sensitivity
Can anyone explain to me why we are able to change the sensitivity of the auto headlights when it doesn’t do anything. I mean especially in the daytime when it rains or when it’s really foggy you think they would turn on, but nothing. I know some people may say they are too sensitive, but of course when you go under a bridge they will turn on. Could it be something wrong with the indicator?

try cutting a piece of black elect tape. The sensor should be the round disk on the driver side near the winshield.
That way it's removable if you change your mind later, but can cut it to fit and blend in.

Actually the sensor is on the passenger side. The one on the left (driver side) is for the HVAC sensor ( Heating and A/C)
I just stumbled on this old thread when searching for something else. Anyways, I do agree that in my 2010 Maxima SV Sport, the Auto Headlight Sensitivity setting does absolutely nothing.
I drive through a small underpass (train tracks are above) everyday going to work. I spend maybe two seconds, if that, being physically under the bridge. Within that 1-2 seconds, my HIDs come on and immediately shut off. Very fast on/off cycles like that shorten the lifespan of HIDs.
Short of taping the light sensor and leaving the HIDs on all the time, is there anything else that will fix this issue?

By the way, I love my Maxima but the tech/nav software is a bit clunky. It's pretty clear that auto makers should not be software engineers. :P
For example, searching for a point of interest with the navigation is near useless - I'm better off getting the point of interest's location from Google first and then inputting the street address into the Nav system.
It would be EPIC if more tech companies teamed up with automakers to produce a more fluid tech user experience, much like Microsoft has done with Ford and its Sync software.

I never noticed any change at all.
