One thing that I keep looking at is the fake corbon fiber pattern pieces inside my sport model. They look cheep to me. How hard would it be to change out the panels to maybe the OEM wood grain panels. It looks like it would be 6 pieces altogether. I see were they make after market ones with lazer cuts etc.. but I think placing a panel over a panel seems cheep and I do not know how this would hold up or look. So with this has anyone swap them out before?

You want to do something called Water Transfer Printing.

Here is an example

I did a wood swap on mine. Looks way better then that horrible fake carbon. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite cover everything quite as well as I would like but it's just the places that have moving parts. Also, the kit I got didn't have anything to go over the door handles. I can post pics if you want?

IMO wood grain goes with Tan interior and carbon fiber goes with darker color interiors....

I agree 100% but it has to be somewhat real. Nissan didn't even make an attempt to make it look like faux carbon fiber.

I don't think Nissan was going for a carbon fiber look, just a patterned metal. That's why they call it "Metallic-Link" in the Sport model. Personally, I think it looks much better with the Charcoal interior than the wood-grained plastic in the Premiums does.

for any who does not like their carbon fiber trim and is interested in selling it send me a pm... my ony question is ... would the center piece( radio section) fit on the premium? i ask because we have the memory card slot and im not certain if the trim from the sport fit on the premium

reminds me of looking at a PT Cruiser, woody model. I could see replacing the "fake" carbon with real carbon, now that would be cool...............sounds like a project

Except that there is no carbon fiber on the Sport Maxima - real or "fake". You can't complain that it doesn't look like real carbon fiber when it was never intended to look like it. It's like complaining that the "fake burlap" seats look too much like premium leather...

Oh, I agree with you. I think they had the right idea, but somewhere along the line a textured or brushed metal surface lost out to a painted surface for financial reasons. I'd certainly consider a real carbon fiber or textured metal kit if anyone turns one up.

I like whats in my sport....just "complaining" that carbon fiber would look nice,,,,,,and I do think the chain was a poor attempt at carbon fiber, they just dont hide the fact and called it something else

I know there's guys that laminate existing parts into carbon fiber, the only downer is that you have to remove it and send it to them, which is likely to be in Indonesia! Ive seen these guys on the Lamborghini Forums.

I absolutely love the way my sport interior blends with my sport MAX!!! I previously owned a truck that had the wood grain dash and door inserts and I absolutely hated it!!!! It looked cheap fake and for a much older no crowd.... No offense to anyone... When I first sat in my MAX that was one of the first things I noticed and was in love!!!! No complaints here!!!!

I think a true carbon fiber look would really set it off IMO.

I'd prefer the piano dot with my premium black interior. Nissan sucks for not allowing you to customize.

I agree completely. I have no idea where people are getting the thought that the metallic link is supposed to be faux carbon fiber. To me it looks NOTHING like carbon fiber. It looks like a dimpled aluminum or something like that. I have the piano dot trim and that looks far more like fake CF. I still wouldn't go that far to say it was tho. REAL CF would loook reallllly good in this car if it was done properly.

well i think alot of people refer to this as "fake carbon fiber" because it does resemble real carbon fiber alittle bit, because of its black dots and grayish background

Relax Mr. Sassy Pants. It does infact resemble somewhat of a carbon fibre look and that is clearly their intention up creating such a monstrosity. I guess it just comes down to symatics in the end. Clearly some of us like it while others do not. But redirecting back towards to the OP's question I had some free time and I saw nothing that would actually replace the panels in the car that have "Sport Package Trim" Sorry Champ looks like stick on is your only option at this point.

Haha sassy pants... I sat in one briefly, I guess I don't remember it well. Looked more like fake metal to me. But I don't sit in it everyday so I believe you.

Actually, I'm very interested in how (where) it is mounted as well as its consitutent components. Additionally, I believe our Mr. SwatCop probably has a fire extinguisher in there as well. As I've yet to come up with a good mounting option for mine, I would love more info. I've had to use both too many times for my liking and find it admirable that others take their responsibilities seriously.
