Setting Speed Warnings
Setting Speed Warnings
Hey guys,
I have a friend who has a bmw 535i and he is able to set warning beeps when is going over the speed limit on the interstate. I believe that 09 maxima has that feature. How do I set it and make sure that it is working?

I know the 2010 Taurus has a "My Key" feature where you can limit the top speed and stereo volume on a specific key, for the kid I presume. That's kind of neat if you're dumb enough to let your teen drive your brand new Taurus and think limiting top speed is actually going to keep him out of trouble...
It is used to help calculate the arrival times to your destination when using the Nav. You need to read the DVD Nav. Manual. Go here to download the online version of the manuals. http://www.nissanusa.com/apps/techpubs
My old TomTom 700 GPS had the feature you are talking about and it also had the "updates" to Speed Limits set periodically...I personally found the feature of little use (highway conditions are always changing...construction, detours, etc) and found that cruise control and keeping an eye out for speed limits signs and driving conditions worked much better. It was cool from a geeky feature perspective!
My 1966 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (among other cars) had this feature, and it could be set to whatever speed you wished with a simple turn of a ****. When the car reached the set speed, a buzzer would give a soft 'ZZZZZ' sound. The higher above the set speed the car went, the louder the 'ZZZZZ' became. I used that feature on all freeway trips. It probably saved me many a ticket.
No, we have no such feature on our '09 Maxima, and I don't remember it on any of the Maximas I have owned (all gens except the first).
