Despite recession, Maxima still selling...

Nothing great but still can be interesting to some.

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...auto-recovery/

"The third-largest Japanese automaker competes with Toyota and Honda by building a bit more excitement into its offerings, and the Maxima is a roomy family sedan that fulfills the formula with sporty handling and a brisk V-6 engine. A redesigned model that arrived last year has helped goose sales by about 5 percent in 2009, making the Maxima one of only three large sedans to see a year-over-year sales increase."

Yeah! When I logged onto the internet a few hours ago, a big picture of the 7th gen Maxima, and the article referenced in the OP popped up on my screen. Good stuff!

I have noticed this in my neighborhood. When I got mine about a month ago I only noticed 3 or 4. But now there must be over a dozen within a 10 block radius.

This is my first Nissan (came from Honda) and just couldn't buy a: Accord, Camry, Avalon; due to boring. The TL was interesting but the price was out of sight.

Yeah, with this recession, people are wanting their money's worth for everything. Finally, I guess they are starting to see this car is "bang for your buck" worthy. I've been saying it forever that Nissan got it right for '09.

Wow! In a way that would be nice, as it means you have real individuality. You could debadge you ride, slap an exotic Italian name on the rear and create a stir.

I live in a county of only around 100,000 total population, and I usually see three or four 7th gen Maximas every day I go anywhere. Of course I also see many dozens of Altimas every day, because there is a big Nissan dealer just four miles from my home.

The Maxima has withstood the test of time and is probably one of the best cars on the market, in terms of bang for your buck and enjoying your car without putting a strain on your wallet, so it's great to see them selling, still I don't see a lot here in ATL/Marietta, but back in NY they where all over the place.

When I had my 6th Gen friends where always impressed with how nice my car was, and the 7th Gen is the same I think the Maxima is the underdog of the 4door sedans, most people know Honda and Toyota but are clueless to Nissan

It may be that this ongoing PR disaster (with growing body count) for Toyota may end up steering a few thousand suspicious or disillusioned Toyota owners to Nissan. Shame for Toyota; this thing blew up right after they became the 'world's largest' car maker.

Did the Maxima sell really well when the re-design first came out? It took me a little while to get used to it, but now I really like it. A friend of mine got one a few weeks ago actually.

Not really. I think that a lot of people were slightly turned off by the pictures(spy pics, Nissan pics etc.) but had a sudden change of heart once they got to see it in person.

Exactly what dauntless said. I couldn't have said it better. I think that situation definitely hurt sales summer a year ago.

About the time we began to see a few '09 Maximas on the road in fall a year ago was when the bottom fell completely out of the automotive market. There are hundreds of empty lots around the U.S. that had car dealerships on them a year ago, including three fairly near me. By last January, there were probably around a hundred million folks in the U.S. wondering if they would end up unemployed, as approximately sixteen million currently are.

But, as the layoffs lessened slightly, and people began seeing more 7th gen Maximas on the road, buyers rose from the ashes and began buying.

I definitely liked the front end of the maxima when I saw the pics online, but I did not like the back, but once I saw the Maxima on the lot with a spoiler and 19's, I was like damn this thing is baddddd

Good news here but I wonder how many of these sales are fleet sales..... As National/Alamo has quite few Max's in there fleets. When I'm out of town on business naturally it is my car of choice!

You do realize that the Maxima is designed, built and sold exclusively in America
