Passengers air bag

Has anyone else had an issue with the passengers srs light showing the airbag off while an adult is sitting in the seat.

How much does this particular adult weigh?

I have seen this issue a few times, but it doesn't usually last that long. I just spoke with the dealer and they don't have any "known" issues on it...

But this issue has come up here at least half a dozen times over the past fifteen months. The 115 pound cutoff for determining whether a passenger is large enough for the airbags to safely deploy is sort of borderline, in my opinion. And some cars seem to have a sensor that requires even more than 115 pounds to activate the bags. Tough call to make.

My passenger air bag light comes on when my GF sits in the seat (shes 115lbs) and then goes off after 5 minutes, but will occasionaly go on and off during long drives...very unusual, never had this on any other car.

I acutally saw this myself last week when my bride was driving me home from dinner where I fell in love with a particular vintage. I did notice if I unbuckled and buckled my seat belt it went out. Flakey seat belt mechanism or was I not completely secure the first time? At 6'4" and 250 I'm pretty sure it wasn't a weight sensor.

Happens from time to time when my wife is in the passenger seat. I ask her to shuffle around in the seat and most of the time light goes off within couple of min. Annoying as hell, plus the wife will not stop reminding me. The dealer of course said that there is no issue. The weight is around 120lbs.

Just got it back from the dealer. He updated the BCM. So far no issue with the light. I will keep you all posted

I ran into this same issue while my wife was sitting in the passenger seat last week. She was slouched down in the seat a little. Once she sat up straight, the light went out.

So, did the dealer accepted that there is an issue? What is the BCM?
If this works for you, I will definitely get it addressed with my dealer.
thanks
Max

The BCM is the Body Control Module. So far, sence the up-date, I have not had a problem. Before, I had an issue every time myself or my wife was in the passengers seat.

Air Bag light

My passenger side air bag light goes on and off constantly while I'm in the passenger seat. I'm around 145lbs. When finally getting my car back yesterday, we stayed close to the dealership to do some other shopping and were lucky enough to have the light come on again while I was in the seat and we took it right back to the dealer and showed them, it stayed on for over 25 minutes then finally turned off on the way home. They are ordering new parts now to try to replace the sensor and seat cushion. Until now, they have not been able to duplicate it and the pictures we have taken with our phones weren't good enough to get them to do anything. I've asked them now 4 times to get this fixed because we take 5 hour car trips where half the time the light is on for absolutely no reason.

Ask your dealer to update the BCM. That seems to have worked for me.

That does it! I'm trading my wife in for a "plus sized" woman so that I don't have this problem!

Just kidding!
