Why spend the money on the bypass when it only takes an hr and its free?

Well I set aside my afternoon tomorrow to do this bypass. I got the 2011 with nav. Does anyone know if the wires and colors are the same? I just want to make sure they haven't changed anything since '09 or '10

I did this mod this weekend on my 2010 Max
The Green and red wire is the e brake.
Violet and white is the VSS.

I used a Double Pole Double Throw Switch from Digi-key it was tiny and worked well.

Make sure to buy the connectors or you will end up having to solder and shrink wrap all the wires.

On this switch I wired the center pins going to the headunit.
The bottom pins going to ground
and the top pins going to the wires that were spliced.

It was an easy process just took some time, and now I am able to watch DVD in motion, or enter an address while the car is moving.

Plain and simple question: (2010 Max NON-NAV with Monitor Package)

Do I need to purchase a kit for "In-motion DVD playback" or is it just a matter of grounding then installing two switches to get it to work?

I obviously won't want to stare at a brake light or hear constant beeping either so if either of those two side effects are unavoidable I won't even consider the mod. Thanks ahead of time for anyone who can give a clear difinitive answer
I sent you a PM, cuz I have 2011 MAX wtih Monitor Package and no NAV.

I would like to know this too as I am paranoid about messing up my new ride by cutting into the wrong wires.

Would a SPST switch work in this configuration also or does it have to be double?

I just upgraded from an 09 Max to the 2011 Max and I am very interested in this bypass now that it plays DVD's right from the CD player, but just like everyone else I am worried about not doing it right or messing it up in some way that could cause issues. Thinking about getting my local audio shop to handle this task...we'll see I guess.

Yeah, I decided to wait until I'm out of warranty. I drive a lot so it shoud be just a little over two years to reach 36k miles. Let me know what you get quoted from a shop if you do, I'll check around Houston whenever I can do so.

Thanks again.

Pretty sure a SPST would not work and you need a double. A SPST config wouldn't allow you to ground the wire coming from the screen to the ebrake the way you would need to.
