Are you hitting your head?

I find myself hitting my head on the door frame getting into my new 2010 Maxima.I didn't have this problem with my Altima.

Six feet tall and no problems. Just remember not to keep standing up when you get in.

Well, I'm 6'4 and unless I'm sitting directly vertical (which is a bit uncomfortable for me) no issues. The seat height adjustment does do further down if you adjust the front of the seat to angle slightly up.

I'm 6'7". I would not have bought my 09 Max if I hit my head getting into or couldn't fit into it.

Important question: on what part of the car are you hitting your head? Door frame, ceiling? Center console?

I have, on occasion, hit my head on the center roof console of a couple cars but never on the Maxima. One particularly memorable incident was on a rental Hyundai SUV. It nailed my head on the corner of the overhead sunglass compartment that had dropped down.

I did not have this problem when test-driving my car, but had it happen later. Checked and found the seats, mirrors, steering wheel, etc had been on my wife's settings when I entered the car, and I did not change them to my settings.

When lowered to their lowest setting, these seats give ample head room, especially if driving with the seat well back from the steering wheel, and with the seat back at a normal angle instead of straight up.

On the door frame.I need to lower the seat. The controls [ in the manual ] are confusing. The photo shows two curved arrows which appear to show TILT. How do you get it to go straight down.I am only 5'10"

I'm 6'6" and the headroom was one of the main factors in my decision to buy the Maxima. I have more headroom than in my Grand Prix. Make sure the seat is at its lowest position by pushing straight down on the seat adjustment button.

There is a 'rocker' type switch used to tilt the seat bottom either to the front or to the rear. If we push down (toward ther floor) on the center portion of that switch, the seat bottom drops toward the floor. Just like GEAR_HEAD is saying.

I do hit my head sometimes and I am not tall. I hit it on the visor. I can still move my seat down though...

6'2 never had a problem. I just wish whenever you open the door the steering wheel would lift up ( When the car is running). Its not to bad though i just lift the powered tilt button.

I thought the seat went back and the wheel raised upon entry and exit from the vehicle, I have it disabled due to my size, my seat is all the way back and my wheel maybe moves an inch or half inch, but I have never tried it with the car running, getting in and out, maybe someone here who has not turned the feature off can share

With my 09 and the car running, the seat and stearing will stay in-place (same as if you place the key in the holder.) When you turn the car off, the wheel will raise (and for my bride) seat will retract.

I'm almost 6'7" and one of the main reasons I bought a new Max last week was because of the ergonomics for me. This is one of the few full-size sedans where the center console does not have continuous contact with the side of my right knee, which can be very annoying (e.g. Ford Taurus, Chrysler 300, etc.). Also it is rare for me to find a car with a sunroof because normally it takes out so much headroom. Not so on this car for some reason. Still have an inch to spare. Haven't hit my head on anything yet.

Your keyfob isn't programmed to YOUR settings? If it was, it should have adjusted to you and not hers.

I found that if I try to get into the car after my wife has driven it the setting for her are retained. To keep that from happening I must push the unlock button on my key fob for the car to recognize me and to readjust the seat to my settings.

Actually, we just keep all the fobs for our vehicles together in a hidden compartment at home, and we don't have 'his/hers' fobs. I can see where having 'his/her' fobs would open more options with this car.

No, the seat and steering wheel will not move while the car is running. A safty feature most likely.
