Passenger Air Bag Sensor -- Weight Issue?
Passenger Air Bag Sensor -- Weight Issue?
My wife weighs about 100 lbs and I have noticed a few times that the passenger airbag light is lit up when she is sitting there.
Anyone have that issue?
Know what weight the airbag is designed to turn off at?

From what I've read:
No weight, no seatbelt, Airbag is off, no indicator.
light weight, seatbelt, Airbag is off, Indicator.
Normal weight, Seatbelt, Airbag is on, no indicator.
Distributed weight (child seat), seatbelt, Airbag is off, may or may NOT have lit indicator. *childseats should NEVER be put in the passenger front seat....
Normal weight, seatbelt NOT worn, may or may not have lit indicator and may or may not enable airbag.
Heavy items on passenger front seat. May or may not activate indicator or airbag. *if it does activate airbag and you have an accident, keep in mind, all that force will be transferred to those items of cargo potentially making them deadly missiles. Again, cargo should never be on front passenger seat -or- rear for that matter...
It doesn't look like, for possible legal reasons, they are giving the classification weight for the airbag sensor.
It also looks like this is a pretty simple system to "fool".

My wife is 114 lbs. and I have the same problem, ive even had her sit straight up and straighten the seat and everything like that at the request of the service advisor, but with no success. I have noticed that it randomly decides to work correctly, but not often.
