Splash Guards - Where to find for reasonable price?
Splash Guards - Where to find for reasonable price?
Hi all,
On my pursuit of splash guards for my 09 max I've encountered a stumbling block. At least 3 online retailers I've submitted an order to either don't ship to Canada or have the part in stock. As a last resort, I headed to the dealer and they quoted me ~$60 per piece (total = $240) even though on Nissan's American accessories site it's listed for $140. Any ideas where I should turn, or is my pursuit simply not worth it?

Both are very reputable.

Could also try

they have them on sale at $116 for the set painted.
Compusmurf, I do realize that these are non-functional without modification and this is what I'm planning to do in an attempt to keep my car a bit cleaner for a bit longer.
With the modification, do these perform their job satisfactorily?
Thanks.
Yep; the sides of my car stay much cleaner after the add-on flaps I attached to the front face of the OEM splash guards. And the add-ons only extend around three inches lower than the OEM guards; not really noticable. The key was having the add-ons reach very slightly further out to the side than the OEMs, especially with the front flaps.
The 'lightonthehill' mod is compusmurf's name for adding modified generic black hard rubber flaps to the face of the OEM splash guards. I did this over a year ago. Poster bmanbmv later did the same thing with his car and took the extra step of doing a very good writeup (with excellent photos) on the process, which can be found at the top of the 7th gen board in next to the last stickey (called Installation instructions, FAQs, etc). The third post within that section includes a procedure called 'Guide to Installing Splash Guards and Mudflaps'.
The add-on flaps do not have to extend more than 3 1/2 inches below the bottom of the OEM Splash Guards in order to catch the trash from the tires. If they reach more than 4 inches down, speed bumps can become a problem. Be sure to have the front flaps extend to the side as far as the tires do, and have the outer edge exactly vertical (else it will look funny). Also be sure the rear flaps are approximately as wide as the tires, else they will look strange from the rear.
