Got some tire recommendations for me?

Hey guys, I just ordered a set of Vossen VVS-085's from MC Design Whips... Now I need to figure out what kind of rubber to throw on them. I know I want 245/35-20 but havn't looked into tires in quite some time. Can you throw some recommendations my way? I want something with a good balance of performance and wear. I figure with all the stores that now offer buy 3 get one free the price should stay 'reasonable'. Thanks in advance!

And for those that wonder why I didn't get a wheel/tire package, I didn't see the point if I was going to swap over my TPMS sensors anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions.

To clarify, I will be running my stock 18's with Dunlop Winter Sport M3's that I have sitting around from my Z days. So the tires for the 20's will see the 3 good seasons, and hibernate in the winter.

Anyone ever run the Yoko S.drive? They got good ratings and are a pretty decent price.

Been a Yokohama nut for years, I love their tires, several 6th gen owners have those tires, I would buy them without thinking twice

Annino- another vossen member that's great to hear . I have the same size tire. I would look into the hankook evo v12 if you are looking for a great summer tire . It has rave reviews everywhere. For all season maybe eagle gt. I have Dunlop sp sport plus because of price and value

I have run S-Drives. But it was on my 300zx. Great tire IMHO. Good grip in the corners and really connected well off the line. Not so good in the wet though.

Wow, that low a profile tire...I wonder if maybe rubber bands may be cheaper!! Seriously though, let us know of the ride quality when you do pick your shoes!

1st I would say Michelin hands down.

-PS2 for Perfomance
and or
-All season ones.

I have had PS2s- Great grip, but a bit bumpy due to profile

My brother has the All seasons on his GTi and he loves it + they last way longer than the PS2s... I would go with the All Seasons for Max.

I would get them through Costco. They cover everything in their price which includes Unlimited Mount and Balancing+Road hazard, and a very good price as well.

Good Luck

Thanks for all the suggestions. Right now I think I'm between the S.drives and the Hankook Evo V12's. They are both in the right price range ($140-$150 on TireRack) and have gotten pretty good reviews from a number of sites.

Go with the Nexxen 3000 245/45-18ZRs. They make your car handle like a dream and are excellent on wet roads plus they fill up the wheel well to conceal any remaining wheelgap.

You probably just made a typo, but how would 245/45-ZR18's fit on a 20" wheel?

Which brings me to my next question... a 35 series tire will keep approx. the same OD correct? A 40 or 45 would be nice but it is my understanding that the tire OD will be alot more than the OEM, messing with the speedo and stability control (maybe?). Anyone have any insight?

I always use this tire size calculator when determining tire size. It's helped me out.

Also someone in a previos post mentioned the Toyo Proxes4. They are a great looking tire and have had good reveiws. i have them on my 2003 Max but man they are a rough ride. Just a heads up if that matters to you.

Sorry Bro, it wasn't a typo but an oversight. I didn't read that you were looking for 20 inch tires for your 20 in rims but I was only looking at the fact that you wanted to keep close to stock ride quality or better which is why I recommended those tires.

Go hankook evo v12 IMO . I would have went 255-35-20 if I wasn't dropped on eibachs since I didn't want to rub so I got the 245s instead which work out fine as well

Thanks man, that's what I'm leaning towards now. The Hankooks got better reviews on some of the sites I'm finding. I'm lowered too, so I think 245/35 is the size to get.

These are rated higher and are only $122.00 EA for your size.

Hm, my decision just got harder... Those are def in the running now, but I'm still leaning towards the Hankooks. Thanks for bringing them to my attention though

Check out roadwaywholesaletire.com
They carry the Hankooks and are usually less than the other online sites.

The Hankooks have a weak sidewall. You'd probably end up hating them, especially on 20s.

I'm tellin' ya man... if you're gunna do it, DO IT!

Haha, I may... If the Hankooks have sloppy sidewalls I def. don't want to mess with them. This is tough.

If it makes any difference I ran Hankooks in the winter and Yokos in the summer. Yokos were a very quiet tire in comparison.

You'll be happy to hear that I just ordered the S.drives from discount tire direct.... The wheels should be on the car by this time next month.
