new intake installed****PICS***

I will have to say this was a very easy install. I did have one question about a mysterious tube that the new Takeda intake did not utilize. I called aFe support and sent them pictures. They got back to me very quick with the answer I wanted to hear. This "tube" is something that can be removed as it's responsibility is to warm the car up faster in COLD regions of the US. I left it on just in case I ever wanted to go back to stock for selling. I will say that the sound is bad a$$. It growls!!! when at WOT. With the OEM intake I could not get my 20"s to scratch from a 2-3 mile roll. I swear they did today on the test drive. Maybe just my imagination and by the way aFe is going to take my pictures and modify the install instructions. Even the tech guy said it was terrible that this was not addressed in the install info. Well enjoy the pics.

Ya that tube is something that none of the intake systems utilize; even my Stillen one didn't use it... It was defiantly much easier to install this one over the Stillen It looks awesome to... It is defiantly a great product I have got to say.

I left it on and hanging there, lol... Even the service guys at the Nissan dealership didn't know what it was for so since they didn't know it was defiantly something I didn't want to remove just in case, lol.

Yea, but it wings around like a broken arm No I just used some tie straps and made it rigid. This is there even with the Stillen?

Just curious. Is that a hydroshield around the filter?

Since yours is a short ram intake, do you really need it?

Killa, this was what I was talking about. My 12" clonicle filter was in my wheel well. MAde by JLT Performance. That's drawing true cold air and no road dirt did not effect it.

Are you sure that is a hydroshield? i was told that it was just added protection to keep dirt off of the filter so bigger particles did not stick to the filter.

Damn the piping on that is crazy. That would be cool if they could make something like that for us, lol.

I want to get one. It looks very nice. Do you think it's the biggest upgrade as far as performance? It doesn't affect anything like warranty does it?

All I can really say is that I like it much better than the Stillen on that is out. Some people don't like it because it doesn't have the shield like Stillens does but the overall design and quality is very nice. I gotta say I think that it performs better than the Stillen one though.

The only way that it can void your warranty is if somehow the cone sucks water into it and it gets into your engine. For the systems that the Maxima have that shouldn't be an issue reason being ours in not a Cold Air Intake which means it doesn't go all the way down to the bottom of the vehicle so you should have no issues there with warranty. Also remember any damage that dealer claims to be because of an aftermarket can be fought and they have to prove it is because of that part that the issue happened.
EX: Your engine blows up (so to speak) you take it to the dealership; they say its cause of the intake you installed; you tell them to prove it. Unless they can prove that the intake allowed water in or faulted in any other way then your car is still under warranty. There is a case law over this but I am not sure of the name or where to find it at.
