Most synthetics are created from certain petroleum components that are chemically altered.

Esters are created from a chemical reaction, where (DO NOT QUOTE ME) i think an alcohol and acid are condensed.

I've been running Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 with a PureOne PL14610 for the last couple of oil changes....and hands down...this is my favorite combination in the VQ (I have tried Mobil 1, RP, and Castrol Syntec.....my runner up, behind the PU, is the Castrol Syntec).....do 4-5K OCI's....will be sending this coming oil change for used oil analysis...I have a feeling I could go much much longer with this oil/filter combo.....

Been running Mobil One in all of my vehicles for the past 20 years and I have never replaced an engine. BTW, I replace all Mobil One at 5k intervals. Users may also want to know that if you don't perform oil changes regularly ie for those that don't put many miles on your car, that when you run conventional motor oil, condensation occurs in your crankcase. Condensation does not occur in your crankcase with synthetics. To me, synthetics are worth the extra 30 bucks per oil change on average.
