Angry F&%*ING CURBS!!! Stillen Lip Spoiler Solution??

I have never clipped a curb before in my life. Today I was getting some food and proceeded like normal. I stopped by 711 and walked out to my car and found all these gashes on my front bumper. I didn't feel anything hit, and now my bumper is all ****ed up. These gashes are deep too!

What pisses me off even more is that I just washed and waxed my car, not to mention its 2 months old as of yesterday!

Here's a picture, the other pics came out too dark. I was flipping out and realized that it's low enough that the Stillen Lip Spoiler may cover it completely.

Anyone have that on the Ocean Gray Max? You guys think it will cover this completely right?

I would use an oxidation remover and a power polisher Before trying the brake fluid method.

something that harsh makes me nervous.
I don't doubt that you have had success with it, but with my luck and skill, I would remove the ALL the paint.

Try some polishing compound, put it on a towel and rub away, stick to the effected area and most of that white should come off, and sorry about the bumper, we have all been their

used the brake fluid today. took off all the white and now theres a lot of black underneath. I guess its where the actual paint was scraped off the car. Looks much better white, but still beyond simple repair since its gouged out.
I'm going to look into the lip spoiler though...... we'll see... thanks for the help guys!

Just as an alert (I have posted this several times in various threads over the past year and a half), the front of this 7th gen Maxima is lower than any Maxima ever made, and will not clear most of the curbs around where I live.

I either back into parking spaces, or stop well short of the parking bumpers that are intended to stop the car when the front tires ease into them. This '09 front end clears almost nothing around where I live.

couldn't agree more...i owned a 2000 maxima and never thought twice about parking and worrying about height. i scratched up the bottom side of my front lip the first week i owned my 2010 max - heartbreaking to scar it up when the paint is so virgin and beautiful.

the worst part of the whole thing is that I didn't even know it happened! Didn't hear anything or feel anything. I guess the bumper just grazed right across the damn thing.
Well I'm going to go to my dealer this weekend and try and get a quote on the repair. Then I'll decide whether to paint it or buy the front lip spoiler.
Either way I am never parking near a curb again!

just be careful with the brake fluid. you don't want to keep it on the car because it can easily ruin your paint. keep a clean wet terrycloth nearby and wash it right after to make sure no residual fluid stays on there.

good luck.

Not to hijack your thread but Skuffy Auto Body in Huntington charged me around $300 to have my rear bumper repainted. Before and after. You might wanna check them out.

I actually went to Skuffy's to get a quote on the car. They didn't recommend repainting the front bumper because of the intricate parts. the guy said I would not be happy with the results. They did give me a decent price on painting and installing the spoiler though.

Glad to hear someone likes their work. Makes me a little more confident in getting thigns done there. Thanks

Fix

Here is the way to go before you spend a few hundred bucks on a repair.

http://www.drcolorchip.com/

Trust me, this stuff is awesome. I had a black Altima before my Maxima and as you can imagine, it had road scars all over the place from highway driving. I even had a couple chips that were about half the size of a dime and it filled them in so they were not noticeable

It will not smooth out any rough surfaces but what it will do is match the paint so that you cannot see it without getting within a few inches of the car. Plus, you can keep whatever is left over for future use if you do get a small scratch or some chips.

I would recommend you clean the area then put some of the paint on a rag and brush it across the entire area. You then use the cleaner they ghive you to remove the excess after it dries for 5 mins or so.

It is really good stuff
