Those updates are only for the 2011 Sports Package anyway so...

the headlights are a bit disappointing - but at least now that I know what they look like - I don't have to worry about waiting for the 2011 - except I may have to in order to get it in the configuration that I want as all that is left in dealerships now are fully loaded Maximas nearing $40!

the other way around; '11 people swapping to NOT have the little black lines. But I suspect that there will be plenty of people with 9-10 that will want the 11 and vise versa.

Well, if you're upgrading to HID... that makes sense. But for a purely cosmetic, barely noticeable detail... that's just nuts, regardless of the way you swing.

No wait... I've spent good money detailing my engine bay, and I'm the only one who ever sees that stuff. So maybe you're right, and cost doesn't factor into it when people really want something.

Never mind.

This is usually the case with a newly designed part, at least with Nissan. I have owned nothing but Maximas for 26 years, and I have learned over the years that you DO NOT want to have a wreck with a Maxima that has newly designed parts before that Maxima has been out for several months, because, during those early months, it is almost impossible to get replacement parts faster than in four to six weeks, sometimes longer.

Show me where I could get a fully loaded Maxima for $40, I'll buy three right now, lol.

How much are fully loaded maximas around you? I dont know if you consider my car "fully loaded" or if you have to have the premium to be considered "fully loaded" but my car is a sport with tech and Navi packages and it stickered at $39,777.00 . I didn't pay that price but that's what the sticker said.

So if your going to buy three, go buy them near where Rochester lives because he doesn't see many around him

I normally don't like being Captain Obvious, but when sgirgiss1214 joked about buying three Maximas if they were only $40, he meant the literal read of "forty dollars"... no "K".

All that aside, if I were going to spend $40K on a car, it sure wouldn't be spent on something new, it would be something used and depreciated down to $40K. Know what I mean? Porsche comes to mind.

Or something unique, like a BMW 850 CSI.

But not a fully loaded 7th gen Maxima.

I also have sport+tech, I like to consider my car fully loaded, around my area a Max just like yours or mine is like like 31.5k before taxes, premium+tech is like 32.3k. I was joking becuase he wrote $40, so I took that as 40 bucks, lol. My car was stickered at $39,090. I got sport+tech and mats and splash.

My bad...$40K!

ETA: I wonder what a 2010/2011 SV Premium would cost me here in NJ...I will have to wait for the 2011 to get the Blue ext and latte interior that I want.

Even though it's stickered at $40 I really don't think anybody pays near that for one.
I had the same intentions as you. I started off looking at used Maximas. I found one that was a premium with 6k miles on it for 27,500. Everywhere else I looked dealers were selling used ones withow miles for between 29 and 30k. I walked into a dealership and told them I was about to go purchase the used Maxima from the other dealer so they offered me any sport with nav and tech on the lot that I wanted for 31k. The price difference was $3,500 and 6k less miles. I figured it would take me 6 months to put 6k on a new car and 6 months of payments would be around $3,000 anyway. Plus the used car didn't have a nav system and I got to choose what color I wanted instead of settleing for what was available. Most important was I was going to know that the car wasn't dogged during the break in period. So even though I set out to get a used car, after weighing every thing in, I ended up with the new one. Far from $40K.
So Rochester, I'm with you on I wouldn't spend 40k on a new fully loaded Maxima but would you spend 31k on a brand-new fully loaded Maxima?

Yes.

I've driven it 3 times in the last couple years. I even took one home for the afternoon once, parked it in the garage, drove the family around, etc. I was very impressed each time. I love the looks and the dimensions. The car feels wonderful. It's a very rewarding experience sitting behind the 7th gen.

The only thing that stopped me from trading in was the transmission. And it wasn't the CVT that stopped me... quite honestly, the Maxima's new CVT is a blast to drive. What held me back was my desire for a manual transmission.

So I didn't get one. And in the last 2 years I've gone nuts modifying my 2003 in order to get the same kind of personal rewards having a new car would bring. That's a double-edged sword, however, because now I find myself boxed into a dilemma. My '03 is a much stronger car than the 7th gen, so I would be compromising both on transmission and power.

Kind of sucks.

Which is why I've established my current plan: Summer of 2012, I will likely be purchasing a 2 to 3 year-old Infiniti G37S 6MT. (Coupe or Sedan... haven't decided.)

Or a brand new Mustang GT 6MT, if I become overwhelmed with mid-life crisis.

I understand ya. Not a bad plan. Personally this is my first new car ever and to tell you the truth I don't know when I will get a new car again. I just bought my first house this month so what I'm looking for right now is a nice long time of trouble free, payment free months ahead so I can focus on the house bills and other unexpected. I'd say right now if I were to get another car it would be the performance series G coupe. Sexy car. But it's too soon to decide somthing like that because by the time I decide to get back into buying a new car I will probably have my heart set on somthing else. As for now I have a LONG extended warranty and I plan on using it all. I'm going to put atleast 100k miles on my Maxima. It's going to be a long, fun time.

Its all good. a 2010 premium+tech goes for like 32.2k fully loaded. Sport+rtech goes for like 31.5k. 2010 models of course.

Being that you're in my area - do you mind me asking details about your lease - terms and monthly/month? You can PM me if you want.

+1 on the exhaust pipes, 09-10 are much more aggresive

+1 on the Grill, I wish my 2010 had those, I am sure they cost too much to replace, has anyone looked into a good price on them?

-1, I prefer the new headlight, they look more aggresive
