i would only assume you won't feel much gains from only an exhaust. that goes for any vehicle. you'd probably really only start to feel some gains when you add intake and such....

I have the stillen Intake and magnaflow Mufflers, just removed the MIDDLE resonator, OMG the increase is significant, even the added sound....it a cheap way to get the best of both worlds.

Ive been thinking about this, can you post up a sound clip.

Shadowx3081 I almost bought a Stillen cat back system that was on a 09 max for 2 months, it was rusted like crazy. That steered me away, especially in the NE winter months.

Getting rid of it already?

BTW I have my old STILLEN CatBack Exhaust System still for sale... got to get rid of it. $450 for the system. It needs to be polished back up to shine but other than that its still in good shape.

Wish I had done the Stillen Intake and Exhaust at the same time, just to notice the giittyyy-up gain more. But putting the cat-back on after the fact, I did notice a gain. I wouldn't go as far as saying kneck-snapping, but definitely noticed the difference. As far as the system as a whole, I feel it was built cheap, the finish ends up tarnishing. But, if you know how to buff the chrome every few months, the sound quality is pretty bad-***. It is definitely a little on the louder-ish side (maybe for some), but it definitely sounds good. So if you can snag a used one and polish it, I would do it. I think the Borla is in the $1000 range unless I am mistaken.

Call me crazy, but the power difference between say the Stillen Cat-back and the Borla would be negligible if at all. Seems stupid to blow $1,000's on performance parts if the gains are minimal.

Cheers and good luck with your decision!

While this topic seems rather straightforward, it isn't. Short answer would be no gains.

Edit: Sorry, that seems a bit definitive. Make that minimal gains.

if you stay off the pedal your mileage may go up a little. most people ride the pedal more after mods like this so their mileage goes down

Does anyone have any documented scientific data showing any gains from any bolt on either on the intake or ehaust side. If not then there are no gains in HP or milage. Only sound levels.

I challange anyone to provide documented evidence.

The OP asked a straight forward question, we should give him the straight forward answers and stop pussyfootin around with maybe answers.

There is no straight-forward answer.

This is because nobody has dyno'd their car before/after installing an intake or exhaust (at least nobody has done this and posted up dyno results for anyone to view). Hard to have documented evidence when none exists.

Also, not sure if you were aware, but the CVT is a pain to dyno as it does not lock in gear. Best you can really get are close estimates, so the best answer we have is exactly that - close estimates and butt-dyno impressions.

As others have said, and this is the reason these cars are called tuners, when you do bolt-ons you have to tune(reprogram) the car to take full advantage of the part. Tuning will optimize the ignition timing and air/fuel ratio to use the new part, without this the ECU is limiting the mods with stock ignition timing and a/f ratios.

Yes I have heard that the Stillen can rust out. GM_Traitor treated his with some anti-rust clear coat or something and his is holding up great. My Borla has held up great without anything done to it, but out of all available exhausts the Borla is what most would say is the "quietest", I like to call it subtle.
