I said I'd get an oil analysis done and report back... so everything came back well below average with Pennzoil Ultra 5w-30 and 5200 mile interval. They also said the TBN was 4.3 so plenty of life left in it too. At least I know the noise isn't causing wear in my engine, but still annoying as hell!

I can hear the tapping clearly at idle and it is not exhaust shielding as the noise stops when the engine is turned off. Its also not oil level or type. The car has around 1,400 miles and hasn't been in for its first change yet, so Ester oil isn't a factor.. I also doubt its fuel related as nothing but premium has been placed in the tank from a variety of stations and the noise persists.

I have made short YouTube video (less than 40 secs) of the sound. Before I hit the dealership and make an *** of myself, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

This is the oldest engine knock thread I can find. Sad that 3 years later Nissan is still sending these bad motors out in new Maximas.

It's also sad that you got rid of your car last, what, October? And now in December you're still haunting these forums and digging up old threads just...because. We get it bro.

I'm alright with you jumping in answering questions. I think that can be helpful. But a lot of this stuff is just being negative for the sake of being negative. I feel like it's going beyond actually helping people. Just wanting to state my opinion, that's all.

+1 x's a million! Buy another Max or kick rocks. I'm so sick of seeing threads started by new members and all this dude does is chime in with negativity surrounding his experience. Don't you think these members can click and read that thread if they chose to without you jacking every other thread out there...??

So I jacked a thread that was about a bearing knock by replying about the bearing knock ?

Seems you jacked this thread.

How is me replying to a member who asks about POSSIBLE issues with the Max and referring him/her to the bearing thread any different than other members bring up other Maxima issues ?

Yep, very rare problem when Nissan tells you it doesn't exist
